Nice bright coloured boys's socks pls?

Ds has got a thing about socks and gets very upset if we try to make him wear grey or brown ones. Now that sock season is almost upon us he needs some new ones and I am faced with the usual sad array of grey / blue / brown socks for boys. Vertbaudet are usually my allies in this but have let me down this year - only one bright colour per pack of 3.

Any ideas where to get a nice pack of bright socks? The girls section is usually all pink and lilac or I would buy those. His favourite colour is orange so if you found a pack that included orange you would make a small person very happy indeed. Oh he is shoe size approx 10 or 11 in UK child sizes.

Oh we haven't got an H + M and I am a prissy cow who won't shop in Gap Oh bother, thank you very much for your ideas though

My ds1 is the same. Adams do at least have black socks with bright toes and a few stripes.

FrannyandZooey · 18/09/2006 13:26

Ok, that's worth a try, thanks.

Have looked on M+S and Next websites but nothing there.
I buy ds's colourful socks from Gap and plain ones from M+S.

Can only find some orange ones in a multipack with other boring colours, though that site does have other patterned ones, if that's any help?

iota · 18/09/2006 13:36

not orange but lots of patterns debenhams

southeastastra · 18/09/2006 13:38

tesco usually have lots of bright ones, but ours is being refit at the mo so have none

FrannyandZooey · 18/09/2006 13:38

Thanks chaps It is miserable, isn't it? If I bought those ones Jackie I might as well just throw the beige and brown ones out, as he would never wear them, and I would be lucky to get him in the navy pair

(and yes I know what you may be thinking - if it was anything important I would put my foot down and tell him to lump it, but it is just socks and I don't care)

You could buy some of these if the yellow or red are bright enough?

FrannyandZooey · 18/09/2006 13:46

Those are beautiful - not cheap are they? Aargh plus £4.10 delivery as well. Well found though Jackie, those would be great if I were not so tight

Yes - it's quite an expensive site that one. Hope you find something.

FrannyandZooey · 18/09/2006 13:52

I will try Adams and if no joy there, Tesco's

thanks all for responses, it never ceases to amaze and gladden me that there are women who will actually help me trawl through websites just to find something I want.

Zara?

Pound shop places?

puff · 18/09/2006 13:54

I recently got a bundle of brightly coloured socks for ds1 from Next - £5.99 for 5 or 6 pairs. They are stripey - orange and red, yellow and blue etc - each pair different colours.

vickiyumyum · 18/09/2006 13:55

john lewis had some nice bright socks in on saturday, some with dinosaurs, fish and just plain ones.

accessorizequeen · 18/09/2006 14:08

Bought ds some lovely bright stripey & patterned ones from Boots last week, bigger store though.

FrannyandZooey · 18/09/2006 18:54

Puff I did look on Next's website but couldn't see any - they sound lovely

JackieNo · 18/09/2006 21:09

How about these ? or these from Next - maybe the ones Puff is talking about?

FrannyandZooey · 18/09/2006 21:14

Oh the first ones are so cute but don't go up to his size! The second ones were on my possibles list and have just gone up to first place I think, considering he has just chosen his pair of winter boots in chocolate and turquoise (this was after being talked out of a pair of silver ones the assistant evilly brought over - she knows full well ds is either a budding drag queen or a glam rocker )

Anyway, I think the greeny / bluey shades will be great

(bugger me how much time have I spent today just thinking about my 3 year old son's footwear ffs? must get a life...)

brightsocks

JackieNo · 18/09/2006 21:35

Wow - silver . I like his sense of style. Brown, sorry, chocolate, and turquoise sounds fab too.

FrannyandZooey · 18/09/2006 21:37

He is a loon, Jackie, don't encourage him. Silver boots are all very well if you are Marc Bolan but he is 3 years old ffs
