Did you buy the right sort for your skin? I am as pale as a lime-burner's clog, so I bought the normal-to-fair skin one and so far have had no disasters with it.

SaintGeorge · 12/05/2006 13:42

You really need to exfoliate first and make sure you have no patches of dry skin. The drier the skin, the more the moisturiser sinks in and the deeper the colour.

tootsweet · 12/05/2006 13:42

I was going to buy that. Don't think I will now! Complete hijack of thread but how is your DH and did you cope ok?

Fimbo · 12/05/2006 13:44

Orrible stuff - left me all orange and streaky! I am green and yellow i tell you not orange!!

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 12/05/2006 13:44

i bought the normal to fair one, and i guess i do suffer with patches of dry skin on my knees and feet, which is where my orange bits are.... how can i get rid of them???

Brillo pads might work.

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 12/05/2006 13:55

OUCH SG!!!

Seriously, if you scrub at the patches (obviously NOT with a brillo Grin) and wash the areas frequently it will fade very quickly.

meowmix · 12/05/2006 14:00

same thing here. and I exfoliated and moisturised and everything like I should. still smelt of biscuits and went streaky. bah humbug sez i

bluejelly · 12/05/2006 14:06

I think it's crap too

fullmoonfish · 12/05/2006 14:22

I tried it and wasn't impressed - have switched to Nivea sun-kiessed skin (fair to medium skin) much more subtle and smells nicer IMO. There's a rash of these products out now.

FrayedKnot · 12/05/2006 14:24

Snap!

Tried it for the first time last night, thoguht with so little tan in it, it must be fine.

I have streaky lines down my legs.

I did exfoliate like mad before with salt scrub in the shower.

It;s pants.

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 12/05/2006 14:26

its just my knees and my feet.... everywhere else hasnt changed!

I am still using up the remains of the Johnsons one, but want to try something else next. I really didn't like the smell.

Was I imagining it or did I see one that was a moisturiser, fake tan and a sun screen!!?

The nivea smells better then fullmoonfish?

mythumbelinas · 12/05/2006 14:28

i put it on last night, and thankfully i'm okay .. subtle tan :)

FrayedKnot · 12/05/2006 14:36

So, do we put more on tonight in the hopes that it will even out, or abandon it?

expatinscotland · 12/05/2006 14:36

I'm going to try the Nivea one after I finish up this bottle of Johnson's. It's okay on my arms, but on my legs it's been going all streaky and orange.

Ledodgyherring · 12/05/2006 14:37

Abandon it and buy fake bake it honestly is the only way to go \link{http://www.bodysourceonline.co.uk/Products/default.aspx?cat=faketan1\here}

ProfYaffle · 12/05/2006 14:38

I've been using Superdrug's own brand, did have a day or two with yellow knees but stopped putting it on my knees and now I'm fine! I quite like the colour, very subtle, dh has grudgingly admitted I am now 'less white'.

Clare1976Lawrence · 12/05/2006 14:52

Hello
Has anyone else tried the Boots Botanics version of this, which I think is called Golden Glow? It's v subtle, and I am very pale/fair-skinned, and also not very good at putting the stuff on, but it has taken the edge off my blue-with-cold complexion, and very nice to even out the post-winter blotches on my legs. Works well on cellulite too, of which I have more than my fair share. It's often on a 2-for-1 deal in Boots, and I think it's around £3 for a bottle with pump-action lid, so it's easy to use.

L'Oreal do one as well, and I htink Dove have recently brought out something similar. Haven't tried them, though.

blueteddy · 12/05/2006 14:59

I have heard a lot about this Johnsons cream. Is it worth buying? Does it actually work?

beety · 12/05/2006 15:02

yes blueteddy, i have ti and it is good. but still streaks. i put a good layer of moisturiser on first.

blueteddy · 12/05/2006 15:45

Thanks, beety. I think I am going to have to go & buy some!

fullmoonfish · 12/05/2006 18:17

dingle, there is one - saw it advertised but can't blooming remember what make it is. Anyone?
