But testing a new Renault against an old Land Rover seems a bit pointless - surely an older car will come off worse no matter what the make? I made DH watch it cos he's gagging to buy a Freelander - we currently have a Scenic.

The Renault came out better in the test BTW.

I think it is Volvo's and SAABs but the best way to find out is the NCAP ratings probably on Top Gear website.

However, no matter how good the car the child seat is critical. For that you need to look on the Which web site - they are the only ones to test them to 40mph and look at a variety of safety features like side impact.

The older car, the 4x4, came off worse against the newer MPV (which also had isofix fittings). So, not a like for like test.

last time? No - they messed us about loads and int he end the salesman was sacked for ncompitence!!! I got a Toyaota Aygo.

However Dh is currently downgrading for a year or so, so looking at ForFour again - but not same company Grin

Volvos usually do well in Which? magazine car safety tests - this is why both of our cars are Volvos. The S40 came top in the large car category in a report they published a few weeks ago.

Hub, Hula's car is no good on farm tracks covered with a thick layer of wet rotting compost - my Ford Focus was fine!!
Other than that, it is great!!
