We have a tall fridge space in the house we're moving to and I have no idea about tall fridges/fridge freezers. Is there anything I should know before I buy one? Sorry for the very dull thread and thanks for any comments.

starlover · 29/03/2006 14:57

JanH · 29/03/2006 14:57

starlover · 29/03/2006 14:57

yes and agree about bosch!

JanH · 29/03/2006 15:00

Where are you moving to btw? [nosy]

Tinker · 29/03/2006 15:07

It is a very dull thread indeed but my favourite type. Agree, fridge on top.

WideWebWitch · 29/03/2006 15:09

Thank you Janh, yes, if you have Which/Witch (ha ha) stuff, that would be great. I've found a great site, and one fridge, \link{http://go-electrical.co.uk/details.php?prod_id=1877\this one} but we won't go for it because I think I want one with a freezer too, is £100 cheaper than John Lewis. so do you reckon I could tell JL and they'd knock £100 off?

(Janh, we're moving in Bucks/Northants/Beds direction!)

And starlover and Tinker, I wouldn't have thought about which way round they should be, thanks!

Frost Free "A" rated energy(saves elec) with fridge on top, half fridge, half freezer! hate tiny fridge with huge freezer it needs to be exact half and half for me!

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 29/03/2006 15:11

you have to come to the Northants direction - there are a few other MN'ers round here - but none of them want to meet up Sad.

With regards to what to look for, think about what you need - do you use lots of vegetables - then find one with a big 'crisper' at the bottom, likely to have opened bottles of wine in there - look for one which has enough space on the door to fit the bottle in with stopper.

We've got \link{http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/store/cur_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@2114637711.1143641482@@@@&BV_EngineID=cccjaddhgjekkdicflgceggdhhmdgmk.0&page=Product&fm=16&sm=0&tm=undefined&sku=931454&category_oid=-25911\this} one arriving on Friday Grin

WideWebWitch · 29/03/2006 15:12

what's A rated then? See, I don't know anything about this stuff!

QofQ, thanks! We have a normal fridge sized separate freezer too that I think we'll be able to get in somewhere so the freezer bit could be smaller on this one I guess. We do use lots of veg so good tip about the crisper. I never thought electrical goods would excite me so!

OP posts:
Tinker · 29/03/2006 15:13

A is good

LIZS · 29/03/2006 15:14

Agree . We have a Bosch , 2/3 fridge 1/3 freezer, although it is temperamental as regards draining as it is n't quite level. Fridge at top and freezer below with clear drawers so you don't have to open to see the contents. Preferably frost free although we didn't get that one. Think ours came from JL

WideWebWitch · 29/03/2006 15:14

I've been looking at Bosch ones online because they have nice stainless steel ones. God, I sound like enid choosing her car on the basis of the cup holder!

OP posts:
Tinker · 29/03/2006 15:15

Despite crispers being at teh bottom of fridge, veg should, apparently, be stored at the top -bottom too cold.

Tinker · 29/03/2006 15:15

YOu can get a Bosch fridge with drawers not shelves - bet you can get loads in that.

WideWebWitch · 29/03/2006 15:15

Oh. So why aren't crispers at the top then? Hmmm. I think I'd feel oddly disconcerted by a crisper at the top!

Design? Heard this when od ing on daytime tv during mat leave.

LIZS · 29/03/2006 15:16

Ours is like \link{http://www.tesco.com/electrical/product.aspx?R=8237885&bci=153|Fridges%20and%20Freezers*4294967102|Bosch&in_merch=1&in_merch_title=Bestsellers&in_merch_name=Bosch+KGV24325GB+Classixx+Fridge-Freezer+-+(White)\this one} but with clear grey tinted bits.

Kidstrack2 · 29/03/2006 15:19

I would go for a Hotpoint, Bosch or Electra these are all good value for money

Kidstrack2 · 29/03/2006 15:20

or the one QoQ has bought that really is good value £250
