We have a tall fridge space in the house we're moving to and I have no idea about tall fridges/fridge freezers. Is there anything I should know before I buy one? Sorry for the very dull thread and thanks for any comments.

Here you go, www - there are quite a few and in what seems a fairly random order.

(I'm intrigued by the concept of the "The unique Siemens VarioZone KG28XM40BG is the first mix-and-match fridge and freezer. You can convert its two compartments to suit your chilling and freezing needs. For example, if you’re preparing for a party, and needed to chill wine and canapés, you can change both compartments to fridge mode in time for the festivities."

So what are you supposed to do with the stuff that was in the freezer compartment???)

Good luck with Beds/Bucks/Northants Smile! I do Primary Times for the first 2 so I know a bit about there - Bedford seems very nice but the rest of the county is a bit empty. There is much more for kids in Bucks.

Thanks everyone, I didn't know there was so much to consider, I see I was right to post! :)

That cheapest best buy is cheaper at the site I'm browsing, not much though, \link{http://go-electrical.co.uk/details.php?prod_id=1888\£285}

If you already have a separate freezer, I would go for a 2/3 fridge 1/3 freezer that LIZS mentioned as I get very peeved when all my stuff is squashed in the fridge.

Check them all out on \link{http://householdappliances.kelkoo.co.uk/b/a/sbs/145801/13995399.html\kelkoo} (not listed in price order so you have to scan the whole thing but they do include delivery)

Or there are \link{http://www.pricerunner.co.uk/home-appliances/fridge-freezers/browse\pricerunner} and another one (whose name I always forget, durr).

I'm really fed up with my bosch fridge/freezer only having a small freezer (we were ltd width-wise when we got it, it was the only one that would fit)

Sorry have to disagree with that one - my parents moved to Bedford in 1988 - and lived there until 3yrs ago. I was still living at home with them until 1997, and then lived there again for 1 1/2yrs from 2000-2001 with my DH. We couldn't wait to get away from it - I know there are a few Bedford MN'ers on here, but I can't stand the place. It's overpriced (end of the Thameslink line so 'perfect' for commuting) and has some pretty awful schools (a few good ones too I must add).

If you do go to Bedfordshire, try for the villages rather than the towns - as most of the Bedfordshire towns are pretty naff IMO

Mine is Zanussi. The door shelves keep breaking and they aren't covered by guarantee. I got them replaced free once, and was severely told that plastic bits were excluded. The other advice I once had, and stupidly ignored, is to work out what size you need and then buy the next size up.

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 29/03/2006 15:54

look for wider fridges too - we actually went to Curry's and Comet at the weekend to look at them - and the differences between wider fridges and thinner ones - with the same 'capacity' were quite astonishing. Some of them were quite tall but because they were thin the shelf space wasn't really that great. The wider ones were slightly shorter (in general) but because the shelves were wider you get could more stuff in there.

What is a crisper?

WideWebWitch · 29/03/2006 20:34

GS, it's the bit at the bottom of the fridge where you put the veg, you know the clear drawers that pull out.
