Help needed with night lights!!!

Hi, I'm a first time mum-to-be and need some help with night lights.

  1. Can you use a night light from birth?
  2. Should night lights be on continuously or just when needed i.e. night feeds and nappy changes?
  3. Which light would you recommend, touch light or autofade light?
  4. Would you consider night lights to be a necessity or a luxury?

Any other help would be most appreciated.

We only have one at the top of the stairs, when ds' were babies I just turned the tv on with no sound no lights as it would wake them up too much.

I just have a plug in one that goes straight in the socket I put it at the top of the stairs in case they wake up and go wandering.

Hi there, we've moved this into Other Products Chat. Thanks.

Thank you so much for the messages so far. I need all the help I can get. I've been doing loads of on-line research in preparation of my little ones arrival, but the whole experience is just making me feel anxious. There's so many products available, it's difficult to know what to get because its important and what is just hype.

I didn't have a decent nightlight from birth and I wish I had. I had one which I used for nappy changes but it was too bright. Otherwise she slept in the dark and didn't seem to mind. I read somewhere that you don't need a light until they are toddlers and start having fears. DD has had a light since about 2 and she doesn't like waking in the dark now. Also she worries about monsters etc.

I have these

I have a dimmable, autofade light in DD's room now. I wish we had it when she was born. It would have made night feeds and nappy changes easier. The light came from JoJo Maman Bebe.

Hi, thanks for the messages, they've been helpful. Sometimes I wish we had a manual to tell us what to do, you know, what's right and what's wrong. Life would be so much simpler. Wink
