Hi pet!!! I went in today.. 5 deep at the till and jack shit on the shelves..

alliep30 · 15/02/2006 20:51

It was v good.. they were building a big tunnel over a train track to put the 3 millionth Tesco store in a town at great expense... saw a few months later that the tunnel had collapsed... no injuries but a big fat bill for Tesco.. just a drop in the ocean I bet

moondog · 15/02/2006 20:52

Ah yes, that had a lot of coverage in the papers too.
Greedy bastards that they are, nothing surprises me.

alliep30 · 15/02/2006 20:55

They are greedy.. But they know how to appeal to the average skint family don't they..?

spursmum · 15/02/2006 20:56

In our local one its open 24/7 yet empty shelves all the time.
Xmas they refused to close overnight to stock up so everyone went to Asda!!

alliep30 · 15/02/2006 20:58

ooooh.. they had no xmas puds here either.. My nearest ASDA is 15 miles... Sainsburys about 10, Netto round the corner.. it can stay there!!!!
We have a Waitrose but i'm not rich enough to shop there

spursmum · 15/02/2006 20:58

I'm an average skint family but i wouldn't shop there if I was desperate.

alliep30 · 15/02/2006 21:02

where do you shop.. it's nice living here but i wish we had a bloody decent supermarket

Piffle · 15/02/2006 21:03

They are a monopoly in our town. Ha I spite them and drive 30 miles to Sainsburys.

alliep30 · 15/02/2006 21:05

i think i'll start going once a fortnight and keeping food all over my house..Sainsbury's is not as expensive anymore is it?

spursmum · 15/02/2006 21:07

I am lucky as in a five mile radius I have a Asda, Somerfield, Morrisons and Sainsburys so Im spoilt for choice!!

alliep30 · 15/02/2006 21:08

I've never been to Somerfield or Morrisons.. such a sheltered life i Live. Wherabouts are u?

longwaytogo · 15/02/2006 21:21

BudaBabe · 15/02/2006 21:24

We have the biggest Tescos in Europe here in Budapest!!!!

Hate them here.

But can't say I mind too much in UK or Ireland! Any REAL supermarket tends to excite me!!!

alliep30 · 15/02/2006 21:24

ooh supermarket heaven! down with Tescos

alliep30 · 15/02/2006 21:25

see..they're every-bloody-where

mandieb · 15/02/2006 22:28

ok dont make it too long but please educate me and tell me why I shouldnt shop at Tesco.as opposed to Sainsburys.

alliep30 · 15/02/2006 22:31

well, i think my local one is rubbish. also they are taking trade from local shops as they sell everything... and beacuse of their size they can undercut everyone. There's a really good link at the bottom!

ShaysMummy · 15/02/2006 22:33

i dont think there is much that can be done. if thetre gonna take over the world, they will.
