What books do I NEEEEEEED on my Kindle?

Getting a Kindle for my birthday this month (after years of slavishly collecting books) and am going to go over to e-books totally. My flat is too small for the written word, so aside from my Harry Potters, I will be getting rid of all my books.

Thankfully for book lovers, I'm not a massive 'classics' reader so theres a real hodge podge of books.

What do I need on my Kindle....recommend me some books to get. So far on my list I have War Horse and The Huger Games books, none of which I have read yet.

Okay then, I'll add:

The Fey
Learning to Stand
Who I Am

by Claudia Hall Christian. (Alex the Fey thriller series)

Thank you all Grin I am adding them to my Amazon wishlist as we speak.

I thought i'd get a book a week, and see how I go.

Oh i have just finished Me Before You in my kindle - loved it!

Taken by Jacqui Rose is also a good book.

Corduroy Mansions by Alexander McCall Smith is a lovely read, can't believe I'd forgotten it.

Madame do you download the sample before you buy?

MadameChinLegs · 08/05/2012 21:32

I haven't got my Kindle yet, but is that something you would recommend?

I download samples.

CockBollocks · 08/05/2012 22:07

I loved 'Any Human Heart', William Boyd I think.

Currently reading 'The Humourist' which seems pretty good.

HeathRobinson · 09/05/2012 00:36

Yes, definitely download samples if you're thinking of paying for a book (as opposed to downloading the free books). The samples are long enough to give you a real taste of the story and the writer's style, so worthwhile to do, imo.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 09/05/2012 12:10

Agree with Heath. Amazon let you download the first 5% of a book for free, so if it's an author or a genre you're not used to, its well worth downloading the sample before parting with your hard earned cash Smile.

MadameChinLegs · 09/05/2012 12:13

Ah, good. I was thinking a sample would be just a random chapter of the book. Makes sense that it's the first 5% Grin

It's good that its the first 5%, usually I end up buying the book after reading but there has been a few where I haven't even bothered to finish the sample.
