TIA!

we've got a fiat ulysee.its great, really comfy, but the only prob we've got is that when you've got your pushchair in the back theres not much room for any shopping.we're looking at getting a mercedes vito,as there is much more boot space

spacecadet · 02/02/2006 11:08

well i have a zafira and i love it, it has the flex seating system whichj is great, its not a bus, and its cheap to insure and easy to park.

JanH · 02/02/2006 11:10

People carrier reviews from Parker's - not all 7-seaters though.

We have Zafira (2.0 DTi) and like it very much apart from a few niggly things like the un-split middle seat so you have to move the whole row to access the 3rd row, and having nowhere to put the parcel shelf/carpet when the 3rd row is up. (Oh, and only a lap belt in the middle seat, but they changed that 3 years ago.)

SleepyJess · 02/02/2006 11:11

Zafira

GDG · 02/02/2006 11:15

Thanks all - that's a helpful review Jan, thanks.

Wondering if anyone has a volvo XC/V70 - I really want an XC90 but might be a bit too pricey (am working on it though ).

Others I know about that am vaguely interested in are VW Touran, Chrylser Grand Voyager (though a bit bus-like!), Galaxy (hmmm)....

I've got a Seat Alhambra. Only had it since oct but seems to be economical on diesel. I haven't used the third row of seats yet-just waiting for the arrival of no4 in March . Can't think of any cons other than its quite long and I haven't got used to that yet (plus mine has a towbar).

GDG · 02/02/2006 11:16

I'd need to use 3 back seats pretty much always and one of the extras often - usually bringing a friend home from school once or twice a week and my 3 have car seats that take up the whole back seat.

spacecadet · 02/02/2006 11:19

ive heard very good things about the touran, i think parkers give it a good review as do which, the vw sharan is another good one, i think youd be hard pressed to get 3 car seats on the middle row of a zafira, certainly in mine.

This thread should help re Volvos (and 7-seaters in general).

Kanga is a passionate Volvo owner (can never remember which one she has but it's some kind of XC I think)

GDG · 02/02/2006 11:25

That's it Spacecadet - I know SIL hired one a while ago to visit us (they were bringing grandparents) and it didn't look wide enough to get all our seats in. Atm we have a Mondeo and the seats fit in, except ds1's booster seat - the back of it doesn't sit properly against the back of the seat because the Britax Eclipse in the middle is pushing it out of the way. So need a car that is big really.

Don't know why I have such expensive taste - my favs are Volvo but they aren't cheap!

Wondering what the difference is between the XC70 and V70 if anyone has one - V70 much cheaper.

Thanks Jan - am I going to get a telling off for not searching archives

OMG, it was almost exactly a year ago and there you are on it, right at the start! Does it take you a long time to reach a decision, GDG?

jenkel · 02/02/2006 11:29

We have a chrysler Grand Voyager and I love it, we have the one with the seats that fold into the floor and electric doors, even with all 7 seats up I can still fit a maclaren buggy and a reasonable amount of shopping in the boot. And the electric doors are brilliant, so handy when its pouring with rain and you got babies and toddlers to get into the car. As for cons, cant really think of any apart from the size, but managing to park it now in a normal space in Tesco's.

RTKangaMummy · 02/02/2006 11:30

VOLVO XC70 is DEFFO BRILL

XC90 is DB too but prefer XC70 IMHO

The XC90 seats are very clever in how they go into floor BUT don't think they would be easy for car seats so if yours do up their own belts then DB if not wait until they do or put older children in them

DS climbed over from front or in through the boot with our one

DB sound system

We don't have the need for 7 seats anymore we had them in ourother VOLVO and didn't use them enough

get SAT NAV + TV and integrated telephones

Get the extra screens in back of seats too

also get rear park asssist

I love all the toys

RTKangaMummy · 02/02/2006 11:34

Jan

It took me sooooooo long to type

Also get integrated child seats are deffo brill

and much safer

RTKangaMummy · 02/02/2006 11:38

Frogs has got a V70 GDG

My current one is XC70

They are different shape

V70 is like the 940 and 740 in shape

JanH · 02/02/2006 11:41

Of course there weren't any Volvo reviews in that people carrier list so here are thiers from Parker's

We had a 240 with retro-fitted 3rd row when DS2 was a baby - luggage space was non-existant and the kids got very hot and cross sitting in the boot because they faced the rear, the seat back was higher than their heads and there was no fresh air. (They had fun waving at the cars behind us though )

GDG · 02/02/2006 11:45

LOL Jan! I was dreaming then - our house hadn't sold so we weren't really in a position to fork out for a car, dh was fobbed off for his promotion but he gets it this time! PLUS, I thought the Mondeo was paid off last August but it is this August...AND, we have now sold the house!

SOooo, when the house has all gone through, dh's promotion is through, i.e. in a few months - can look at getting rid of one of our cars and getting a new one.

RTKM - was going to ask if Frogs got hers! Does she like it?!

So, XC70 or V70 - do you get all the nice 'toys' in teh V70 too - is the only difference really the exterior look of it?

Regarding child seats - could I just put my 2 Britax Eclipse and 1 Britax highliner across teh back seats?? What do you mean by their integrated child seats? The boys are 5, 3 and 17 months.

No the interior is different too and more fun IMHO with grab rail, dashboard, sound system

Integrated seats are in the seat and so you don't need child seats will get info for you

Yes frogs loves hers too

Do they both come with the extra 2 seats as standard?

Dh is pleased I have adjusted expectations from the XC90! My dream car!
