Hi all,
We've been asked by Angels and Urchins magazine to suggest the most iconic parenting items - things that have arrived on the scene during the last ten years that are truly fabulous or you can't now imagine parenting without. So, great design, practicality, beauty.

Your thoughts would be most helpful.

Baby sleeping bags

Bumbos... not everyone's cup of tea but very clever design

Agree sleeping bags.

Ditto bouncy chairs (or have they been around longer?)

candleshoe · 21/04/2011 16:50

Grobag sleeping bags

ProfYaffle · 21/04/2011 16:52

Highchairs like Tripp Trapp that fit at a dining table. Reflects a new way of thinking re children and meal times imho.

HerRoyalHighnessPrincessCervix · 21/04/2011 16:55

CBeebies

needtogetalife · 21/04/2011 16:56

sleeping bags definitely!

AitchTwoOh · 21/04/2011 17:00

i think, like them or loathe them, the bugaboo range really pulled everyone's socks up regarding pushchair design. but would say CBeebies.

Prunnhilda · 21/04/2011 17:01

Really not a new development (!) but slings going mainstream has been good.
Ours made the early days easier (calmer baby) and it's just such a lovely thing to have your baby that close and yet be able to have your hands free.
I do realise a bit of fabric is just the same and more traditional but that doesn't really appeal culturally in the way (eg) the BabyBjorn did.

Panzee · 21/04/2011 17:03

I've never used a sleeping bag. My son is 20 months.

I would also say Cbeebies. Especially the goodnight song. Nearly everybody I know who has children 10 or below knows the song.

TheOriginalFAB · 21/04/2011 17:04

Never heard of that magazine.

Sterilisers?
Shaped washable nappies.

Sleeping Bags - a true revelation

Phil and Ted buggy (what an incredible invention that transformed my life with two under two!)

Sure there are more!

Sleeping bags are one of those 'D'oh!' products - they should have been around forever but somehow haven't been.

What about really good baby food? Baby Organix etc. Maybe a bit zeitgeisty.

strandednomore · 21/04/2011 17:11

Yes to Peppa Pig and/or Cbeebies, also to Grobags (or similar)
Ella's Kitchen baby food?
Balance bikes.

strandednomore · 21/04/2011 17:13

Also LOADS of stuff by IKEA eg their children's plastic cups/plates/cutlery range - I don't know anyone who doesn't have it.
I have travelled a lot in the last few years and have met so many people, from so many countries in the world who own IKEA children's stuff.

I used a sleeping bag with my first baby -31 years ago.

They may have become mainstream but are definitely not new.

I also used shaped washable nappies and a sling.

I would say it is difficult to imagine modern living without the wide range of childrens' car seating available.

Antilop High Chair

Babies - well, they weren't such a fashion item 10 years ago were they?!

Grobags

Buggysnuggle - I lost/tore/ran over so many fleecy bankets until I got one. It was fab, with long fur, we called it "wolfy". When the dds were little they would just snuggle down in it and go straight off to sleep.

I loved the Bumbo we had as well
