I like my Smart for four - it's lovely (but not the biggest in the world) fine for 1 or 2 little ones - but when dd gest much bigger (she is 4ft4) we will need a bigger car

It is so economical

Hulababy · 25/10/2005 20:40

Not my Smart cabriolet then?

Wouldn't recommend the Bettle if going to do lots of driving,. Mine is proving to be very expensive ont he petrol.

DH's new Golf Gti is verycool and acxtually better of fuel than the Beetle. But it is expensive for what it is.

Hulababy, I can't beleive someone on MN has a smart as well

startingtobehalloweenylover · 25/10/2005 20:43

shame you ruled out renaults as i was going to recommend the scenic! i have one and it's fabbo!

Hulababy · 25/10/2005 20:44

Katymac - mine comes in 10 dyas, but it is my second. We had one of the original left hand drive Smarts when they first came over here. Have aways loved it for so many reasons. Very excited about new one.

katymac · 25/10/2005 20:44

Meggymoo - it's great, very fast, quite adaptable (back seat moves back & forward)

It's great DH does about 300miles on about £25 petrol (I think - that could be nonesence)

stitch · 25/10/2005 20:46

my bmw 3 series coupe.
its a k reg. we bought it used before ds1 was born. we have clocked up 215000 miles on it. (yes that is the correct number of zeros). it is still going strong. everytime i think it has died, it bounces back.
its also very cool looking. well, it wouldbe if you couldnt see the car seats, and the bombsite of the front seat whichis my dumping ground for all things, and the backseat covered in rubbish

vickiyumyum · 25/10/2005 20:47

i would have said focus c-max, but your not keen on fords. not sure about what your budget is and the age of car you are looking for but what about a mercedes a class (older ones are quite reasonable), or the lovely new b-class, that i am so gutted as only just brought a new car and then they brought them out and i so desperatley want one now! keep dropping hints for father christmas to bring me one, but think i have as much chance of becoming asupermodel by then as getting a b-class!

Yeah. Shame about ruling out Renaults. Our scenic is Diesel (economical) and I think it's fantastic, too. We bought it from a Renault dealer and have had no problems at all. It's got a high driving position and I wouldn't say it's quite "cool looking" but it's not bad either.

Ponka · 25/10/2005 20:50

Hmmm. Cross posting Meggymoo. That'd put me off too. Don't blame you.

startingtobehalloweenylover · 25/10/2005 20:51

ooh really meggymoo? i have to say that would put me off buying one too!!!

but yeah, we picked ours up for £3k second hand a few months back and it's been really good... well, so far! we've done a lot of miles in it too

the basic b-class isabout £17k so just outside of how much you want to spend.

high road position is the main one that i'm sticking on. my friend has a lovely peugeot 307, quite high and lots of space so good for families.

or vauxhall meriva which my dh had a s acompany car for a while. he liked driving it, but wasn't overly keen on the external look of the car. i like it though. hes now got a bmw which i don't like as it is funny looking (5 series i think)

I've got a Vauxhall Meriva and it's bloody fantastic!!!

Best car I've ever had - love driving it!!!

JanH · 25/10/2005 22:42

My neighbour has a Jazz and loves it. (Hers is grey, I really like the pale blue one!)

JanH · 25/10/2005 22:43

It is a bit higher than normal, mm. My neighbour has a disability which affects her hips/spine and she finds it much easier to get in and out of than her previous motability car.

kid · 25/10/2005 22:44

I liked my old car which was a Vauxhal Cavalier. I now drive a peogeut 406 which is too big for me. Its hard to park and the insurance is high.
