I'm seriously thinking of getting one but am scared it'll end up gathering dust. Do you use yours?

The first week we used it every day!
Now just once a week....it is really useful and the bread tastes sooo much better, I just have to remember to hold off on the butter!

Ulysees · 29/09/2005 15:15

cheers lizzylou, I can imagine I'll use it daily to begin with.

used mine about 3-4 times a week for 2 years, til it wore out. am now on my second one. so yes i use it. especially at weekends when it's hard to buy really fresh bread locally.

Mmm, home made granary bread with walnuts...

Get one, they're brilliant

lunavix · 29/09/2005 15:20

We use ours on and off.

I don't like warm bread unless it's a cheapy french baguette from the supermarket (yes I'm weird I know!) and the crusts are a bit chunky for ds to cope with. So dh makes it when he fancies it, and we make it if we run out of bread.

We use it a lot more for pizza dough and similar stuff.

Ulysees · 29/09/2005 15:23

cheers all. Ok, which one? Is the panasonic the way to go?

lunavix · 29/09/2005 15:26

I've got it, but no idea which would be best. I paid the extra god knows how many pounds for it because it automatically added 'bits' in, although we've only used the dispenser twice - once for garlic bread and once for sun dried tomatoes!

THe cheapest place for the panasonic is amazon btw.

lunavix · 29/09/2005 15:26

ooh and we got the breadmakers bible. Brilliant recipe book.

Ulysees · 29/09/2005 15:28

cheers lunavix

I use mine loads - the nicest way I've found to make bread is to use the dough setting, then take it out, shape it into rolls, give them another rising and bake in the oven for 15 mins. Is the nicest bread I've ever tasted in my entire life!

QueenOfQuotes · 29/09/2005 15:30

Got a panasonic - and I make a loaf a day - still costs less than buying decent shop bought bread 2 or 3 times a week

Panasonic definitely - you don't need the one with the dispenser on unless you think you'll be making a lot of bread that requires things being dispensed.

Lizzylou · 29/09/2005 15:31

We got ours for £40 from Co-op (v cheap electrical stuff)...think it is Panasonic but it could be Morphy Richards (too lazy to run to check!), either way v good!

Ulysees · 29/09/2005 15:45

cheers again. wow £40!! that's a bargain.

QueenOfQuotes · 29/09/2005 15:50

There's one here on ebay finishing VERY soon (11 minutes) . Currently at £41 - P&P £20 (although don't know if it's local to you)

Ulysees · 29/09/2005 15:53

OP posts:
QueenOfQuotes · 29/09/2005 15:54

I bought a breadmaker 3 months ago, and haven't bought a loaf of bread yet. It is great especially if you put some ingredients overnight and wake up to a fresh loaf.

QueenOfQuotes · 29/09/2005 16:00

ooo 40 seconds left - unless there's a sniper looks like you're going to get it

Ulysees · 29/09/2005 16:00

Oooo only 35 seconds left!!!
