I'm seriously thinking of getting one but am scared it'll end up gathering dust. Do you use yours?

I'm sure he'll let you collect it - it'll save him the effort of packing and posting it

Ulysees · 29/09/2005 16:15

True QofQ. Oooo can't wait to get using it. I'll be getting the breadmaker's bible too, or maybe I should see if it's on ebay?

ooo - fantastic - bet he's glad he doesn't have to carry it to the post office

Magscat · 29/09/2005 20:00

Dp uses ours - mostly for pizza bases. He puts all the ingredients in to it in the morning and sets the timer so it's ready when we get home - all he has to do then is roll it out & bung on a topping then cook. It's really quick, healthier than the take-outs and tastes fab.

Also try putting in bread ingredients at night then setting the timer so when you wake up in the morning there's a fantastic bread making smell coming from the kitchen. Yum!

eeeeek!!

lucykate · 29/09/2005 22:19

i've got one, makes lovely bread. if you get one just make sure you store the flour correctly, in an air tight container. i didn't and had a weevil infestation in my kitchen cupboards

Monstersmum · 29/09/2005 22:21

Mine blew up!! On the second use!

Bought my dad one as he moans about bread but he didn't take to it - too yeasty.

compo · 29/09/2005 22:22

we ahve one. We used it for a couple of months and since then (3 years ago) it has been gathering dust in the corner of the kitchen taking up much needed work surface space...

UlyseesSpirits · 03/10/2005 20:52

Decided to be brave and use the breadmaker - it's baking right now and will be ready at 10.20pm. Oooooo does life get more exciting than this???

QueenOfQuotes · 03/10/2005 20:52

ooo - I've got some in - mine won't be ready until 11.30 though.

UlyseesSpirits · 03/10/2005 20:55

Will you be eating yours tonight QofQ? I'll have to let it cool won't I?

UlyseesSpirits · 03/10/2005 20:57

I've had steak pie with veg, homemadeish turkish delight ice cream but I'll have to eat some bread

QueenOfQuotes · 03/10/2005 20:58

probably not - still got some of the loaf that came out the breadmaker this morning left.

I usually only leave it 15-20 minutes to cool before we all tuck in - it's SOOOOo lovely warm, with some butter (if you've got it) or - flora - or morrison sunflower spread in our case - and jam on it.

DH and I "fight" over who gets the first 'fresh' crust

UlyseesSpirits · 03/10/2005 21:03

Ooo goody, so it'll be indegestion for me in bed tonight to go with my sinusitus

UlyseesSpirits · 03/10/2005 21:03

indigestion

QueenOfQuotes · 03/10/2005 21:04

oh yes - but it's worth it - honest.

What sort of loaf are you making?

I've got a light wholemeal one in there atm

QueenOfQuotes · 03/10/2005 21:04

obviously a bit of stupid question now - but I presume you got it picked up ok on Saturday

Cadmum · 03/10/2005 21:05

I use mine to mix the dough but then I bake the bread in the oven. I didn?t like having the paddle hole in the loaf of bread.

My children love the pizza dough and the french bread (which you bake in the oven as well.)

QueenOfQuotes · 03/10/2005 21:06

ahh - but Cadmum - if you make a whopping great loaf like I make then you hardly notice the hole in the bottom of it

UlyseesSpirits · 03/10/2005 21:07

yes picked it up ok. They had a fantastic house Making a wholemeal one too.

I thought about baking it in the oven too and may try that next.

Cadmum · 03/10/2005 21:07

I just prefer to bake it in the oven...

merrygoround · 03/10/2005 21:40

Tortoiseshell mentions earlier in this thread that when you bake it in the oven you give it another rising. What does that mean exactly? Have been using our new breadmaker toy since last week - 4 loaves so far and well impressed.
