I'm seriously thinking of getting one but am scared it'll end up gathering dust. Do you use yours?

Mmmmmmmm yummy

I was a bit worried though as had only put enough ingredients in for 2lb loaf and forgot to click size so it automatically went on XL. I was convinced it'd be burnt but it's fine. Can't believe how easy it is and my kitchen has never smelt so good

expatinscotland · 04/10/2005 10:02

We have one! Use it for everything - loaves of bread, pizza bases, rolls, even specialty baking like gingerbreads. Haven't bought a store bought loaf since.

QueenOfQuotes · 04/10/2005 11:26

yay - was about to come and ask how it turned out - as expat says - you'll never go back to store bread if you're not careful

UlyseesSpirits · 04/10/2005 11:28

Yes you're probably right QofQ.

Only thing is last night I was so enamoured with the bread finishing, taking it out etc.. that I forgot the bath was running and it overflowed. The water went through the cracks from last time it happened..

expatinscotland · 04/10/2005 11:29

It smells heavenly, too! The whole house smells delicious!

jabberwocky · 04/10/2005 11:32

I love ours! And ds really enjoys helping to make bread.

Carameli · 04/10/2005 14:10

I use mine(panasonic sd253 I think???) every other day at least.
Its lovely having fresh bread and you know what goes into it.

well worth it!

handlemecarefully · 04/10/2005 14:16

Yes got one, and no never use it.

jabberwocky · 04/10/2005 15:03

hmc, have you tried getting the bread machine mixes? It makes it really quick and easy.

QueenOfQuotes · 04/10/2005 16:05

but they don't taste as good - it only takes me about 2 minutes to chuck all the ingredients in the breadmaker though - got my 'regular' recipe learnt off by heart

iota · 04/10/2005 16:07

thedogmother · 04/10/2005 16:08

jalopy · 04/10/2005 18:19

Love ours. Always set it up the night before and get up in the morning to the lovely smell of baking.

handlemecarefully · 04/10/2005 22:24

bread machine mixes - hmmmm, didn't know that you could get those....

jabberwocky · 05/10/2005 12:19

I usually get them at the grocery store in the baking aisle. I recently found a great website with a larger variety and have ordered some to try. Only thing, shipping was rather expensive as flour is so heavy.

jabberwocky · 05/10/2005 12:21

Q of Q, want to share your recipe?

LadyCodofCodford · 05/10/2005 12:21

are you all as fat as houses?

UlyseesSpirits · 05/10/2005 14:05

Well I'm gorgeous at the moment Cod but who knows what will happen now?

Got another loaf in and it's almost ready Dh is on his way home for a late lunch - Buying this bread machine may have extra bonuses

UlyseesSpirits · 05/10/2005 14:08

All of you who don't use them why not sell them? I paid £43 for mine on ebay. Ok so it was new but I bet you could get a bit if you advertised them locally. Extra pennies for chrimbo perhaps?

HRHQoQ · 05/10/2005 14:09

ok - my breadmaker I have to put the yeast in first - and it comes with a 'measurer' for teaspoon, tablespoon and a litte jug for liquid.

1 1/2 teaspoons of yeast
12oz of Brown (or Wholemeal) Flour
5 1/2oz of White Flour
1oz butter
2tsp of salt
2tsp of sugar
12fl oz of water

put in on 'standard' bake (mine is a 4hr one).

Iklboo · 05/10/2005 14:09

I usually use mine about once a wek. I get those bread mixesfrom the supermarket. Just did a gorgeous granary one yesterday to have with my homemade carrot soup!
They also do cake mixes you can do in the breadmaker - carrot cake, madeira cake & ginger cake.

UlyseesSpirits · 05/10/2005 14:12

I've been using the mixes up to now.

Caligula · 05/10/2005 14:15

Mine does jam brilliantly. So easy and much better than commercial - only about a third sugar, as opposed to at least 40% in even very good quality commercial jams.

UlyseesSpirits · 05/10/2005 14:22

wow jam! I heard you can even do icecream in it?
