Menopausal libido increase

This is a thing right? having had very little desire at all for years and years, at 50 I am suddenly on fire. It’s all I can think about and even after having sex I still feel horny. We have gone from 3x a year to every night. its fantastic. Please tell me it won’t go as quickly as it started?

I am experiencing the same thing, its a transformation and I am so hungry and it is absorbing my life at the mo, maybe i need to see the doctor to reduce it.

How would they reduce it? If you have a partner I’d say go with it!

I'm more worried it won’t last.

has anyone had it and it has stopped just as suddenly as it started?

If you're on HRT, that is a very common cause of boosted libido.

God I wish this would happen to me. I have a new man in my life who i do find very attractive but that lust and not being able to keep my hands of him that I would have had in my younger days just isn't there. my head wishes it was but my body thinks otherwise. im late 40s. Im not on HRT, like others have asked are you on HRT op, is that the cause?
if it is il be rushing to to the gp for some.
I've also noticed a massive decrease in my sexual response and ability to orgasm or on the rare occasion i do reach orgasm it is very weak and unsatisfying, its as though my clitoris has died and stopped working. its very depressing.
I miss my younger days 😪

I met a new man at 46. Just 3 years younger than me but 4 years later I could still have him everyday and I’m bit on HRT.

HRT can definitely help with all that. Especially testosterone..

there's a typo in your post so do you mean you're on a bit of HRT or not on HRT?

Not HRT for me I don’t think as I’ve been on it almost five years and this is a recent change.

So odd but also very thrilling. It’s like my whole body has woken up and I’m turned on by touch and smell and anticipation.

If this ends up just lasting a short time I think DH will be as crushed as I will be.

When I was single and dating I found at least two separate peri menopausal women whose libido presented me with a real challenge. I obviously didn’t complain but there were “oh god, please let me sleep” moments.

I read/heard somewhere that as estrogen declines testosterone can become more dominant? Anyway I have had same thing for about 3 years. Love it 😁

Yes its a really unexpected surprise to feel this way.... just up for it so much at the mo plus this sunny weather doesnt help!

Can I ask if you're still having periods? You might benefit from some vagifem oestrogen or some oestrogel. It made a difference to my orgasms and keeping everything 'alive'

Are you also on testosterone as well? If not you can get it prescribed and if this dies down you can boost it back up.
The right HRT makes all the difference and there are so many types, GPs often prescribe the cheapest ones without considering whether a different type of HRT (patches, tablets, gels, pessaries etc) I have an estrogen and testosterone subcutaneous pellet once a year and that's my HRT and I have a high sex drive now whereas for a lot of my adult life my libido was in the grids. I'm 53 now.

I had this, it came out of the blue and we had sex 3 times a day and it still wasn’t enough. Lasted 6 months like that, now it’s more manageable, the desire has calmed down, though we still are enjoying sex once a day, 3 years later.

55 here and I've been insatiable since being on HRT combined with testosterone gel. I actually hadn't had casual sex until I reached my early 50s. I've been having it quite often and enjoying it. Only ever had long-term relationships before then. I am enjoying sex now more than ever before. I also get quite a lot of attention from younger men, which is very flattering for me, even though I don't think I am anything special looks-wise.

Genuine question....if your appearance is the same how do you explain the new attention? The confidence, a knowing smile, somehow them picking up on your drive?

I feel as though it may be a combination of all three of those things. I certainly feel more confident than before. I've also been noticing fit men and admiring them from afar when I'm out and about. I have no idea if they are picking up on my libido being high (not sure if they can tell just from looking at me), but I don't mind if they are.

Yes!!! And to my enormous frustration (which I posted about earlier) my DH is not feeling the same way, in fact his libido seems to be taking the opposite trajectory. Honestly, there’s no end to the cruel jokes nature plays on female biology

Does the HRT boost die down? Like after 2yrs, 5yrs, 10yrs? Or do you jut need stronger and stronger heroine HRT prescriptions to get the same high libido boost?

Yes definitely experiencing this in peri (aged 54). Still the occasional period so not menopausal yet. Hope it doesn’t wane as I’m enjoying myself

I’m so glad I found this thread! I’m exactly the same. It’s taking over my life. Last night I hardly slept I was so horny! But I’m also lost all my confidence so I’m struggling to initiate sex. It’s leading to mega frustration.
