Do vibrators desensitise?

blueleavesgreensky · 05/05/2025 17:57

I’ve been told they don’t but I do wonder. Surely it’s no different from the male death grip and porn desensitisation.
Anything can be desensitised but especially with regards to physical stimulation. And vibrators or other clit stimulators are so flipping efficient that I feel they have reduced my patience. I’m used to cumming so fast and so easily. Just like anything on a screen device has made people impatient and lose the patience required for less efficient things.

In a way yes, but not long term. I can still orgasm to full effect with my DH without a vibrator. But they are internal orgasms. However, I've noticed that if I use a certain vibrator repeatedly for period of time, lesser vibrators either don't work on me at all or they take me ages to finish. When I had a suction toy, I couldnt come with my wand vibrator and vice versa.
Personally I don't find it a problem. My favourite vibrator and my husband both give me great orgasms. I've noticed if I take a break from a certain toy, my body " forgets" it and I can come easily with other toys. However the one I've got is superior to all others I've had in terms of strength of vibration so for solo play that's the one I repeatedly go to.

More or less daily use here and everything still in perfect running order.

I think some of the more intense ones very well might desensitise. I bought a new one recently and dislike it, it is so harsh, even on the lowest setting.

Which leads me to another question. How do people dispose of their old ones?

I guess the same way people dispose of broken toasters and toothbrushes.

I only ever use on the lowest setting or one up. I have no idea how anyone uses the top few settings and those that do, how does a man with a tongue possibly stimulate you?

I bought my partner a womaniser and she said it has changed her sensitivity to the point where I cannot match it now .

bit sad that she now prefers a lump of plastic to me ,🤷🏻

@blueleavesgreensky and @BeEagerTurtle just as the same people may enjoy a spicy meal as well as something rammed with delicate flavour, you are not comparing like with like. One is very much a different sensation to the other.

Excuse my language, but that’s just complete
💩

my partner can only get off with her toy now, I don’t even come close

And how would you know? We're not all the same as your wife. Maybe you're just not that good!!

Yes agree with this. Completely different. Just like fingers and tongue are different. And suction and vibration are different. I honestly can’t imagine how vibration can desensitise to tongue for example. But I obviously don’t speak for all women 🤷‍♀️

You may not speak for all women, but you speak for more women than any man does ❤️.

I referenced my own partner - so yes I know exactly what she is like.

any yes maybe I’m not that good, but I could make her orgasm before I got her this toy ( she has toys before, but this one is on a new level)

Gymbunny2025 · 05/05/2025 20:31

The womanizer? As in the suction toy? I’d say it’s very gentle??

You are just speaking for yourself and your own experiences, you don’t represent all 3 billion odd women on the planet 🤷🏻

Gymbunny2025 · 05/05/2025 20:42

@BeEagerTurtlei have the LH alternative. But same thing. Try it on your finger you can hardly feel it. Definitely less suction than a mouth!!!

I got her the Pro version ( if that’s different), one bit sucks her- the section that goes inside her vibrates - the suction is not all that strong, but the vibration is very strong- it’s nothing I can replicate, my fingers don’t vibrate like that

we don’t live together so she uses it quite often and prefers it to me now, it’s certainly in another league to the previous 50 quid toys she used to have

HeyItsPickleRick · 05/05/2025 21:00

In my experience they do. I try not to use them too much for this reason! I also find the orgasms quicker and less fulfilling than harder earnt alternatives

So you think it’s desensitised her vagina rather than her clit? Never heard of that before!!

So you have heard of a desensitised clit before? It seems they do desensitise some women then but not others

Yes people ask if it’s a thing a lot! Like I say it’s never been for me. But maybe it is for others?

I don’t know, maybe it’s the combination of the suction and vibrations that do it, but the toy gets her to orgasm faster and stronger than I can - and her previous toys did- to the stage now where only the toy will get her there now

The death grip term gets banded about a lot for men - maybe there be a female equivalent, “death toy” seems a bit harsh, maybe “toy grip “ is more like it

I agree. It seems so for me too. It’s so efficient and fast. I feel like I have lost the ability to focus my mind into having an orgasm with my dh now because the toy is so effective and fast. It’s like whipping cream with an electric whisk rather than a hand whisk. The hand whisk will get it there but it takes soooo much longer and you need breaks and it takes so much more effort on my part too to keep the focus.

Yes - efficient is definitely the word

lauraUK1000 · 07/05/2025 16:26

I don't know if they desensitize, or if they just do the job better than other methods, as 99% of the time my vibrator (magic wand) orgasm feels better than I can do with my own hands. I swore I didn't need one when I was younger but tried one and have been hooked since. I've used a vibrator at least every other day for over 10 years and don't feel anything is desensitized.

Exactly the same as me. I really don’t see why one should.
