I'm early 40s. Up until my most recent relationship no man had ever asked me to deepthroat. The idea doesn't appeal to me and I associate it with porn. However my ex seemed to see it as part of normal oral. I refused. So I'm interested to see how many people agree with him that it's mainstream. And is it worth me trying one day?

I think it existed before internet porn, but like anything try it, as soon as you fell emotionally uncomfortable try again.

I’m mid 40s. My DP has never asked me to deepthroat him, he has no interest in porn. With regards to sex i like to try everything, so I learned to deepthroat as a little ‘surprise, look what I can do!’ He appreciated my efforts and commented that he couldn’t believe what I’d just done. It’s not part of my weekly repertoire though as I find it overwhelming.

I think what I struggle with is why would you want to basically make someone gag/choke. So it's a mental block for me.

I searched for a how to online and spent some time desensitising my gag reflex. I should probably get a hobby to fill my time 🤣

I've only ever been able to do it with one guy who had a small penis. I can't do it with my husband without being sick. He's large and I have a small mouth. I've given up, he's never really asked for it anyway.

I did it with my ex once (when we had a particularly full on evening of sex), he didn’t ask but he probably would have eventually as he watches a lot of porn and pretty much did everything else you’d see in porn (most of which I was comfortable with, though hands on throat did make me a bit nervous, not talking full on choking here). I only did it as he had a smaller penis than other men I’ve given oral sex too. I don’t think anyone should feel obliged to do it at all

I am no prude and happy to swallow but I draw the line here. I think it is very much a control thing. I gag at the dentist. For me sex should be comfortable and pleasant. To quote my late mother "if something doesn't make you feel nice, don't do it or stop doing it.

I dont enjoy the sensation of receiving it, I dont see the appeal. In my mid 40s and probably had 2 women do it to me, but I was very "meh" about it. But horses for courses, and like anything, if you don't want to, then dont do it 🤷‍♂️

OP - I think I'd just try it. There are instructions/tips online I think.
Then if you don't like it or the effects, move on.

but where has there been any hint that this isn't a shared pursuit and entirely consensual? Takes two to tango/deepthroat, and clearly rather a lot of trust from the male. as for the "entertainment centre", women of course quite naturally expect a certain commitment to be entertained by a male lover or they may well get shown the door. In favour of one of many available machines.

Like most sexual acts, deep throating is just down to personal preference. I wouldn’t fancy having a penis rammed down my throat either, it’s possible to take it at the giver’s pace, it helps to control the breathing and gag.
