Average Penis Size has increased - Is this good news or is it concerning?

The World Journal of Men's Health, Eisenberg and his colleagues compiled data from 75 studies, conducted between 1942 and 2021, that reported on the penile length of 55,761 men. The team found that the average erect penis length increased by 24% over 29 years, a trend they saw around the world. Erect penile length is getting longer, from an average of 4.8 inches to 6 inches, over the past 29 years.

While it may seem like every man's wish, the team at Stanford is worried that it may be due to exposure to chemicals, sedentary lifestyles and junk food.

Do you think it is concerning or is it good news?

All possible jokes aside, i'd say it's definitely concerning!
Our diet and lifestyle has a lot to answer for. It's not good.

I would take comfort from the fact that malnutrition has greatly reduced, so children grow to nearer their maximum size.

Mermaidparades · 27/04/2023 20:43

I’m sure the research team would also have compared the weight, height and limb length of their subjects. It would be useful to have that data too.

MistySkiesAreGone · 27/04/2023 22:21

1.2 inches is quite a lot.

Beneficialchampion2 · 27/04/2023 23:16

Women don't like men with tiny dongs.

Natural selection just doing it's bit...

Mermaidparades · 28/04/2023 05:34

@Beneficialchampion2 i hope you’re joking?! Female sexual satisfaction is more dependent on how skilled the man is with his penis, mouth and hands than just shoving a large cock into a vagina 🙄

Beneficialchampion2 · 28/04/2023 07:55

It was clearly a joke.

But generally the consensus is that women prefer bigger penises, you only need read this board to understand that. No one wants to be with someone with a micropenis no?

Natural selection takes thousands of years, not a few decades...

I always take these studies with a pinch of salt as a lot of them rely on men measuring their own penis.

It would not surprise me to see that environmental factors are the reason for this.

Mermaidparades · 28/04/2023 08:43

@Beneficialchampion2 use some emojis then to highlight that you’re joking, I nearly started into a lecture on evolution!! Humans have made an environmental catastrophe, it’s appalling.

Everyone loves a good news story don't they? ☺️

You’re not wrong, penis size and skill both play a role though.

ScottishZoe · 28/04/2023 10:10

I agree that evolution / Natural Selection occurs over a longer time period to see such results.

But when it comes to Natural Selection size does indeed matter.

Wish I was going to be around in one hundred years when the average cock size is 9'

Iloveabaconbutty · 28/04/2023 13:33

I recall a few months ago something on the MN Sex Board about penis size which caused me for the first time since I was probably about 16 to get out the old tape measure during a quiet moment of privacy to measure up.

I'd always assumed I was about average. Without going into specifics I discovered I was considerably more than a tad longer than 6 inches. I'm 57 years old. And whilst (I suppose with my daft male ego) that's very gratifying, does that make me a quirk of nature? 😂

Sparkybloke · 28/04/2023 13:49

I would treat this research with a lot of scepticism. Men are notorious for optimistic measurement and with the whole Internet thing and the focus on size I suspect part of the increase is imaginary. Of more concern should be the reduction in the sperm count over the past 50 years. This is real...certainly in the west. Environmental factors are almost certainly the cause...who knows...men may have 9 inch penises in 100 years but be essentially infertile!!!

OhAMilkshake · 28/04/2023 14:05

If they want their research to be credible, I'd assume they didn't leave the men to measure themselves! 🤥 lol

Iloveabaconbutty · 28/04/2023 14:07

@Sparkybloke Agree. I think this is actually a real concern possibly already impacting upon couples trying to conceive.

Mermaidparades · 28/04/2023 16:34

@Sparkybloke it’s so worrying. Pollution and micro plastics are not really compatible with sexual reproduction.

Sparkybloke · 28/04/2023 17:06

@Mermaidparades yes...and the environment is awash with synthetic hormones and chemicals that imitate their action. Those that mimic female hormones are not good for us men 🤔

Sparkybloke · 28/04/2023 17:11

And I would imagine that male hormone mimics are equally as bad for women BTW...

Mermaidparades · 28/04/2023 17:15

@Sparkybloke and people continue to eat meat and drink animal milk , full of hormones and antibiotics. steps off vegan soapbox

Mermaidparades · 28/04/2023 17:18

@Sparkybloke i know that I probably just come across as a sex obsessed nymph on this board 🤣 but I really do worry about this stuff! It’s nice to connect with someone who also thinks about it!!

Sparkybloke · 28/04/2023 17:34

@Mermaidparades thank you. I'm not vegan but I eat less and less meat as time goes by...

Mermaidparades · 28/04/2023 17:42

@Sparkybloke fabulous xx

Iloveabaconbutty · 28/04/2023 18:08

@Mermaidparades @Sparkybloke As a sort of self-test I tried out being a veggy for two months last year for environmental reasons and actually quite enjoyed it - new and different food combinations etc. It was easier than I thought it would be. Then we went on holiday to France and I went back to meat-eating ways.

Maybe time to try the experiment again. I'm not sure I could be a vegan though. Not yet anyway. And I'd have to change my user name! 😊

Mermaidparades · 28/04/2023 18:15

@Iloveabaconbutty i have sat turning green in a restaurant in France as my DP happily tucked into a plate of steak tartare! 😆 give me a shout if you decide to experiment again and fancy some recipe ideas xx
