Following on from the alternative names for the vulva thread, what do you call it when you masturbate? This is mainly a female question, because we all know that men just wank. Masturbation sounds so unsexy to me and I see no reason why womenen shouldn't wank too.

We use rubbing the bulb for a lighthearted term that works for us.

The one that made me smile the most but is desperately sad was ringing the devil’s doorbell from a conservative religious site.

Cracking one out.

As a very young kid, in my head only as not discussed, it was 'being rude'. This must have been from being told I was being rude showing or touching my bitz.

I remember it being 'slip-slide' for a while, a code term I used with my older sister.

I read a magazine at around 14 called Personal and picked up the word 'orgasm' and then my play was orgasming or orgasming myself.

Boyfriends used the term fingering and I picked up on that for a while until it was replaced by frigging myself off. I still use this term mentally when I am feeling really horny and need to get off and the 'agression/crudeness of frigging' feels right.

Talking to people I now say, depending on who to:

'having a fiddle'
'solo fun'
'pleasuring myself'
I do use 'masturbating' a lot though.
