How many sexual partners have you had?

Was just thinking about past sexual partners/encounters and wondering what the average number is. I've just totted it up and I've slept with 20 men. It sounds quite a lot but not sure if it's more or less than average. How many people have you slept with? (I'm 40 btw, and with same partner for last 12 years).

We have both had 7 PIV partners each. Nice and balanced. :-)

There's a famous take down of sex research by a Harvard prof, Richard Lewontin. He documents how a team of academics who conducted a large scale questionnaire went to great lengths to explain how male students claimed to have had on average significantly more sexual partners than females (in relation to a survey qui on hetrosexual intercourse). They never considered something that most people could tell you: males tend to over estimate the number, females tend to underestimate - that explains the disparity. Probably some of that, yes. But, as the saying goes, when a lie is told a thousand times it becomes a truth. So, if a guy tells himself and others that overstatement enough times they many come to believe it - or at least half believe it.

Too many to mention really, but in my heydays.. I used to write all the men's names down, and comments etc.. But this is because I write a lot about things in life all time.

There may be some truth in this. I conveniently forget the ones that weren't actually boyfriends for a period of time, so a very respectable seven.

I've been single for a decade, and am in my 50s.

I'm 29 and I have slept with 10 people (hopefully 11 after my date tonight!). Up until I left my husband in May, I had been with 4.

I have only had one. Just a few weeks before our wedding. He had had a few. It was a good thing one of us knew what they were doing!
Was chatting to my friend (she is half a generation older than me) I told her about this thread. She started when 16, I suspect a bit of competitiveness, girls boarding school, keen on sport, energetic etc.
She then said that one of her first reactions was "is that it?" What has all the fuss been about?
It took her several boys before the WOW feeling hit her. Then I think it was a rather older man, a roué? I think that is the word I want.
Any comments, Good from the first? or perseverance required?

I have lost count, I would say around 50 but I’m not proud of that, I’m also a rape victim (as a teenager and again as an adult) I do believe it’s effected the way I see sex. I’m 38 and single, still battling with PTSD. I haven’t enjoyed sex with most of those I have slept with. I kind of went a bit crazy when my marriage broke up, some of it was fun but most of it regrettable.

I'm 40, around 30?! Married for 15 years. My early twenties were fun!

I'm 34 and have only slept with two men (twelve year relationship and current one 14 months). I'm not a fan of sleeping with just anyone, lol.

I'm 55 and met my DW when I was 19 she 27. I have only ever slept/had sex with her although had a few fumbles when younger but no full sex.

26. I’m 31. I was with same partner 18-27. Then I played the field a bit. I work with lots of younger women in early 20s and we had that discussion the other day. They have overtaken me already
