Which condoms?

DP and I are having to use condoms (coil came out and I need to give my body a break). We both dislike them. They just don't compare to not using them. But this is the way it has to be for now. The ones we've been using - Durex Thin Feel - are still very obviously there. From looking online, there are a few different options with Durex - intimate, invisible. And I've not even looked at other brands.

So what is the best condom that makes it feel like you're not using a condom?

If you've found this page in search of condoms that have been tried and tested by fellow Mumsnet users, you might find our guide to the best condoms useful. Hope this helps! MNHQ

I keep mainly Thin Feel in my bedside drawer.

I also have some flavoured ones, slighly thicker and the flavours are hardly gourmet but they are fun to put on with my mouth.

I can’t remember when I last had sex without a condom (and I have a good memory); l do think you get used to it as the norm and they then feel less obtrusive inside you.

Skyn.

Best thing since sliced bread. To me it feels like he isnt wearing anything. To him he can feel more sensation than wearing any other brand. Win win.

Plus, latex free - if that matters

Skyn by far the best

Another vote for Skyn - latex free and even vegan friendly!

StarLight,

You use condoms all the time in a long-term relationship?

Just curious, not judging!

FromageFrais · 06/05/2019 20:23

@Christian77 i only use condoms.

Birth control doesnt sit right with me, pill was awful for me, depo injection messed me up for 2 years. Cant mess with my hormones anymore.

I initially hated the thought of using condoms but Skyn are a game changer.

I think I definitely need to try Skyn. Is there a specific one that's better? Or just the normal/original ones?

Use a specialist website

Get sample packs to try different makes and models.

Get measured and see what ones fit best.

I found Trojan was the best for me.

Christian77 probably because she doesn’t want to get pregnant, and her partner doesn’t want a vasectomy? Although she doesn’t actually say she’s in a LTR.

I don’t think some men realise what hormonal contraception can do to women’s health. The shit that we have to tolerate just to have a good (but not 100%) chance of avoiding pregnancy is frankly hideous. I spent twenty straight years on various kinds and it has really badly affected my health, and I had to be on them for medical reasons as it was.

DH and I are currently using the rhythm and withdrawal methods - if we did get pregnant we’d both be pleased about it but we aren’t actively trying. We used these methods for nearly two years before we actively tried to conceive and it never resulted in so much as a scare but you never know. If preventing pregnancy were currently important to us then it would be condoms every time. I’m never touching hormonal contraception again, ever.

Hope the recommendations work for you OP.
