Always nerve wrecking the first time you attend one! Are you going with anyone, or know anyone who will be there? If not, is there any way you could contact one of the organisers and have them meet you, say 15 mins early? If not, try and get there before the start time - that way you'll be there when people start to turn up, rather then having to walk into group of strangers - much easier!
These things are normally very chilled and relaxed. It's a great way to meet like minded people. Enjoy!
