Best method for clean sex when I'm on my period - any advice

Sorry if this is TMI, or slightly off topic but I'm after some practical advice about soft tampons or anything better.

I have a new man and not seen him for over a week because he has been away on business - he gets back on Saturday and I'd really like to DTD - but I'm due on any day now.

I'm not wanting to start a debate about doing it being icky and smelly or OK not OK and that men should not be squeemish. We will be doing it in his bed and any mess will put me off and I know that it is not really his sort of thing.

Do soft tampons such as www.gynotex.com/ really work? What is the risk of leak or smell? Are they good enough to let him go down on me? Any positions to avoid?

My flow is likely to be heavy-ish (Tampax Super lasts about 4 hours if you get what I mean). He is quite big and we use condoms if that makes any difference.

How long will a soft tampon hold back the tide and will he feel it?

Assuming he's not put off by it, have a shower immediately beforehand, put a towel down on the bed and get on with it would be my advice. I'd give oral sex a miss though.

We use Droppa (recommended under family apps here on MN - where we got it from) to arrange sex. Not sure that's what they had in mind for it lol. I agree with flacidunicorn - if we didn't plan it it would never happen what with kids, work etc etc. Like AnecdotalEvidence the build us is so exciting. With Droppa you can arrange a "date" and because of the private chat function you can sext and no one will see it - well unless they pry too much!! Great fun.

Oooh. Interesting. My other half has no interest in piv/oral while I am on my period - his prerogative, not a problem - but I do feel horny after day one. We do other things - but might be worth investing in some of the things mentioned upthread.

My last partner was completely unfazed. Early in our relationship he came over and I told him I was on my period, thinking this would rule out some/all of sex depending on his squeamishness. Later on in the evening, in bed, he said, 'Are you going to remove this tampon, or am I?'

Shot off the bed like a rabbit into the bathroom. The idea of him pulling my tampon out completely freaked me out.... Stupid, really. I'd never been with anyone who was so completely unbothered by it. Maybe even turned on. He'd go down on me and then wipe my juices on his face. (My periods are light...) Ah, memories... Shame he was a total and utter cunt in all other regards.
