Oh! Oh! My firstborn starts secondary school in September. Surely that warrants a support thread?

Am I a bit too early for this?

I mean it's months away yet, isn't it?

Good news that the geography planner turned up, bad news that the planner is missing. Hope that turns up soon.

I am not happy that the school can't deal with the bullying, but if dd won't tell them, how are they meant to know? Dd won't even tell me Sad
I only found out because the older girls witnessed it and told my nephew who then told me. We will get to the bottom of it, I just hope it's resolved sooner rather than later and that it doesn't get too serious.

I don't know about dd or the rest of you, but I am so glad it's the weekend!

Thanks dinosaur. The older girls have warned the bullies to back off and it appears to have worked. I do hope that's the end of it.

Glad the planner turned up and hope your ds enjoyed pe. I haven't picked up dd's socks yet! Might try and pop in there tomorrow.

Dd has completed her maths hw tonight even though it's not due in till Friday. At last she is on top of the hw!

DD phoned me up today and put on an ill, croaky voice. She said 'Mum, I need you to come and get me, I'm not feeling well'
I sent her a text back saying tell the teacher and try to stay till hometime.
When I picked her up, there was nothing wrong with her! Cheeky little monkey lol

kid · 29/09/2010 19:11

Dd has lost her planner. I thought she guarded it with her life!
Let's hope it turns up tomorrow and that she hasn't forgotten to complete any hw

No sign of her planner Sad
she has to go to her tutor tomorrow if she doesn't find it and they will let her know about getting a replacement.

But, we have a problem. History homework due in tomorrow. Something about a tapestry but she doesn't know any more details!

Luckily I had typed up a copy of her timetable otherwise she wouldn't have known which lessons she had!

The planner didn't turn up so her tutor gave her a new one Smile
if she loses this one, it's £5 to replace it.
She didn't get in trouble for not doing the homework, she now knows what she has to do though.

I'm happy it's the weekend, I'm not enjoying work and am desperate to get out of there!

nappydays · 01/10/2010 21:20

This may seem a daft question, but my son's school tie needs washing and it says 'Dry clean only'. Does anyone actually send their childrens' tie to the dry cleaners to be cleaned? It has todays lunch on it...shall I put it on the hand wash cycle?

Greenshadow · 01/10/2010 22:42

Hi Nappydays,

I've usually just sponge cleaned children's ties but on one or two occasions have washed them by hand - just make sure you iron it while still damp to make sure it keeps it's shape

kid · 04/10/2010 21:59

We found the old planner!
It was under the car seat, even though DD did have a look in the car on the day she lost it. Today was the first time I have used that car (we have 2Grin), and I spotted it straight away. I have put it somewhere safe (cereal cupboard incase I forget, I can come back and check here lol) If she loses her new one, we can go back to the old one.

She also managed to lose her pencil case on Friday. I'm not pleased as it had all of her equipment in it. She doesn't seem to think it matters as she has another pencil case. That may well be the case, but she has no pens, pencils, rubber or sharpener to put in it!

DD is still coping okay with the H/W. It is getting on my nerves that they keep wanting her to print things out. Usually it wouldn't be a problem, but it is at the moment as I have no ink so can't print anything out.
I have ordered some ink but its at the sorting office and its tricky for me to get there as you can't park.

roisin · 04/10/2010 22:15

Can she take it into school on a pendrive and print it there kid?

With my boys we have a deal: I pay for the replacement of the first lost item, 50% for the second, and none for any subsequent items.

This policy worked wonders in this house Grin

kid · 04/10/2010 22:23

DD didn't have to pay for the planner, her tutor gave her a replacement for free. It was meant to be £5.
She is going to look for the pencil case again tomorrow, it might be in her tutor room. She couldn't check today as they had assembly.

I do like the idea of making her contribute to lost items. I am certain it would train her to take better care of things.

DS is 8 and he managed to lose a whole school uniform plus new trainers in June (he had football after school). I wasn't happy as the trainers were new. I refused to buy him new uniform so he just had to make do with what he had. I was quite surprised that they actually turned up again last week. Even more surprised that the trainers and trousers still fit him!

kid · 05/10/2010 21:57

The pencil case turned up and she had no homework to do tonight Smile
She was able to have a long soak in the bath, watch eastenders and have her hair straightened (its a bit wild at the moment!)

Two pieces of HW to be completed tomorrow, both involve printing out a picture off the internet. God job I collected my ink for the printer today. I got 12 cartridges just to keep us going!

Dd did violin for 2 years at primary, I didn't know they offered it there.
I sent a note in asking about dd's file from primary, she was on SA+ but H have not mentioned anything.
They wrote back saying they have her file and will phone me.

Agree that hw has been reduced. I'm pleased with that as it was getting ridiculous. She now has breathing space after school and actually gets to play out and sleep at her nans at the weekend.

I'll have a look through dd's bag just incase it's there. I'll see if she wants to do it and will phone the school if she does.
You find out more on mn than you do from the school!

well as long as he looked after it and returned it this morning. I didn't have to sign DD's planner this week.....
she signed it on my behalf Angry She won't be doing that again!

We got a letter today about a trip tomorrow morning for a sports event. DD is the most unsporty person in the world, but if they want her to go, who am I to stop her! She is very excited. Its a whole day thing so no lessons for her tomorrow, no wonder she is excited lol

Stupid planners, hope it turns up tomorrow. The tutor should replace it if it doens't turn up. Worst case scenario is it will cost you (or him) £5

We have a spare planner here, with lots of scribble and highlighters all over it. I wish DD was neater with her presentation.

She is slowly turning into a teenager today Angry Lots of backchat and cheek which I am hoping does not continue for much longer.
