Hoping for 6s here, and the 6 in maths will need the wind behind her and the Gods smiling on her.

At risk of sounding like a Father Ted episode she's a lovely girl apparently. She'd get a 9 in being a Lovely Girl. I hear this from teachers, work experience mentors, scout leaders, her friends parents, the lady in the village shop, the elderly neighbours...and children flock to her.

And I'm more academic but not lovely so this charisma is her own superpower.

Anyone on here expecting low numbers? Child has SEND and a lot of issues at school which has resulted in poor support and low grades in mocks. Very proud they actually sat the exams with everything going on. We are just hoping for some numbers on the paper. Already been accepted onto a course at a local college with steps in place to further education and get where they need to be.

Yes, expecting 4s and lower. Any 5s would be amazing! DD has anxiety and needed an urgent CAMHs referral last year. Really, really proud she managed to sit any exams at all. Also going to college to do a vocational course that will suit her far more.

swampwitch0 · 20/08/2025 20:32

@Yodeldodeldo
You've reminded me how much I love Father Ted!
Might have a rematch to cheer myself up 😃

ExamStuff · 20/08/2025 20:34

I was on the thread whilst our kids were doing their exams but not since. I’ve managed to not think about results until about a week ago and now here we are the night before. 😬 Feeling a bit nervous and just hoping the results show all the hard work my daughter, and everyone else’s children, put in. 🙏

Shes arranged to meet friends in the morning so they’ll all go in together at 9ish.

I probably won’t sleep much so might spend a bit of time catching up on the last thread.

Good luck to everyone’s children tomorrow, I really hope it’s a good day for us all.

TravellingSpoon · 20/08/2025 20:37

Placemarking ready for tomorrow. Good luck to everyone getting thier results or supporting someone who is.

DD is nervous and I just hope she can get some sleep tonight. She has managed to claw her way from being predicted 3's in Maths to getting a 6 in her final mocks. She has good maths skills but she just crumbles under the pressure of exams. I am just hoping she has managed to get the 4 she needs to get in to college. If she has done that then that will make us all beyond ecstatic.

Thank you @QueenMabby Not long at all. DD2 torturing herself with the fact her teachers ALREADY KNOW

It's around 5 people.

The Exams Officer.
The Data Manager.
The Head.
The Deputy Head.
Whichever Assistant Head is in charge of Standards/Data.

Normal teachers are not able to access the results at all until the digital embargo (which is set on the MIS well in advance) expires tomorrow. And only then if they know where to look/have access and knowledge of creating or opening marksheets.

This isn’t true. Staff can know them today. I am a maths teacher and know the results of my class. Obviously I can’t share them with my students.

TravellingSpoon · 20/08/2025 20:49

Is anyone going in with thier DC?

DD wants my taxi service for her and a friend whose Mum doesnt drive but I need to wait in the car!

Not according to JCQ regs they can't. Unless you're in the senior team, they're embargoed.

You shouldn't. JCQ regulations state that

Results files and their contents are confidential to the head of centre, examinations office staff and senior members of teaching staff within the centre, the consortium or Multi Academy Trust.

Results, or information derived from results, must not be divulged to or discussed with:

• other teachers;
• candidates or parents;
• educational institutions and Local Authorities;
• the media;
any other persons.

And if they are and they're caught, the centre can lose its right to running exams. Which would be a problem.

Oh! Thank God! I lost my mind moments ago when I couldn’t find you!!!!! I’ll now catch up!

How are we all feeling? We went out for the birthday lunch.. went really well in that DS on good form, tomorrow only mentioned in terms of DS18’s birthday so he’s coming with us to school then getting train with his mates to Leeds for the Otley Run. They chatted in car on way, and DS18 asked what he thought he’d got….. thought he’d done best in maths and business… “maybe a 5 or 6” ( which would be astonishing)... he seems to have mentally written off RS, Computer science…. Anyway! It all is what it is! It was just interesting hearing him be asked it, as no way would I have done!

As for the am, well, I’m just going to read what you guys are planning in terms of whether “allowed” in with them… I’m positive I won’t be allowed!! Perhaps DS18…. Which would be EXCELLENT as he would know how to handle anything unwanted………….

🙏🤞🙏to us all!!!

🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀

(It's Whoo here!..)

You Whoooo with a new name?!?! 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️…. Was going to try and come and find you! Thought you might be lost, too!!!!

BellaI · 20/08/2025 21:08

Good luck everyone. Had a long drive home from visiting family today to be back in time for 9am at school tomorrow. Prob a good distraction having to concentrate on the road! Praying she gets a 5 in Maths as that’s the one I’m most worried about and she did higher paper. Hope she gets decent grades in history, music and Spanish. College registration isn’t until next Thurs but we will know if she’s fulfilled the entry requirements tomorrow.

MrsHamlet · 20/08/2025 21:12

In addition to my earlier post about English looking odd on the results slip...

If things don't go as well as expected, candidates are entitled to see their scripts.

Only they can request them and the school MAY charge a fee - but you want access to scripts, not original scripts. It's a pretty speedy turnaround to get them back.

Reviews of marking are not free, and they're charged per paper, not per qualification.

If that's a consideration, you really want someone who knows what they're doing to look over them and advise you.

You have until the end of September more or less. There's no priority option for GCSE.

lifeturnsonadime · 20/08/2025 11:13

My DD has already had 2 results, Cambridge IGCSE's which come 2 days before the normal ones. Not good news for her a 3 in Biology and a 3 in Business. She does have sen and these where her 'worst' subjects but this means that she needs all of the GCSEs she collects tomorrow to be at least a grade 4 to gain her college place for a level 3 BTEC. So the pressure is well and truly on.

Good luck to everyone for tomorrow.

I’m so sorry to hear of your DD upsetting first two results.
My DS is also SEN ND and needs 4 x 4 ( as I call them 😹) for his Level 3 BTEC.

i 🤞🍀🤞🙏that your DD gets what she needs tomorrow. 😺

Did they get the results they were predicted?!

(But don't answer if you feel uncomfortable doing so!)

SuperTrooper1111 · 20/08/2025 21:18

@TravellingSpoon I'll be waiting in the car too! DD has now decided she does want to open her results with her friends but wants me nearby just in case she has a panic.

tulippa · 20/08/2025 21:21

I have absolutely no idea how DS might have done. Have spent the day trying not to mention anything about tomorrow. He wanted to collect his results with his friends but most of them aren't planning to get to school until 11! We've said we're not waiting that long. 🫤

AntiBullshit · 20/08/2025 21:31

I’m so nervous, my DD hates her school and wants to do an apprentice or NVQ. I really want her to get pass maths and English so she can move on without having to do resits

TravellingSpoon · 20/08/2025 21:35

Waiting till 11 😲

Waiting till 11 😲

I know! The results will be on Edulink at 10 as well so no point waiting until 11.

TravellingSpoon · 20/08/2025 21:44

DD is washing her hair tonight so she will have to straighten it in the morning (she couldnt be seen dead with her natural hair obviously!) but its a tactic because it will give her something to do before we leave at 8.30 and it takes aggges.

QueenMabby · 20/08/2025 21:44

Dd is home. She’s nervous but “not like dying or anything”! Apparently I’m more nervous than she is! 🤣 Looks like her residential has been a good distraction.

I’m so stressed. There are so many different scenarios I I feel I need a flowchart.
Im not sure what I do on Applica for her first choice if she doesn’t get the grades. Do you think I put on the grades, and they’re not enough, and then she’ll get declined, then I can appeal? Or do I do nothing?

We only need to go to the school if there are problems, but the teachers are only in until 12 (bless them for going in at all!) .

Grades arrive by email from 8am. We can go on Applica at various different times depending on which 6th form /college. But not as early as 8am. So there will be a couple of hours in limbo.

I need to calm down. I feel completely unprepared.
How kids can go to Reading not knowing their results I don’t know! Too Kool for me!
