It’s a shame about not being able to see the English lang score as that’s the one I’m worried about. I guess if we are near to a grade boundary the teachers will let us know?

That depends whether they know. Which depends whether they can access the portal or whether they've been given the results. I won't be given "mine" but I can access the portal.

If you want to know, you can ask.

GSCECelebrations · 20/08/2025 17:30

Nervous here. I hope everyone gets what they need. Dd needs 7 or above in 5 subjects for her uni course even she gets A at A level it doesn’t matter, are still needs that A equivalent at GCSE. So biting here.
I was devastated on my results day so know what it’s like not to get what you hope for.
Good wishes to all.

2025istheyeari · 20/08/2025 17:35

Another one joining ready for tomorrow. After successfully avoiding thinking about it through being super busy all summer, I now feel sick!

DS is at a selective grammar so needs certain grades to stay. His predictions mean he should get them but you never know do you. He’s also changed his A level options 3 times so I hope to goodness school can accommodate!!

I also remember being devastated on results day having moved schools ( and exam boards) the September before).

Fingers crossed for all of our young adults tomorrow 🤞🏻

Allromanticsmeetthesamefate · 20/08/2025 18:38

Getting close now, DD has had her new boyfriend here all day and now has gone out riding so at least she’s keeping busy.

I have just checked my emails and no comms from the school, I remember reading on here when eldest DD was getting her results that the schools sometimes contact families with the highest marks to make sure they are in for pictures…

Thankfully I’m not sure DD knows this so at least no she is not feeling any extra pressure from that front.

Tbf what I hope she achieves is just what she needs to get into her chosen 3 a level subjects, anything more is a bonus.

DD is at selective grammar and has her heart set on staying there for A levels!

EmeraldJeanie · 20/08/2025 18:44

I hate idea that a school would do that round getting children with good marks in for photos. How soul destroying and stressful for everyone else...

peanutcookie · 20/08/2025 18:49

EmeraldJeanie · 20/08/2025 17:02

So, will SLT know now or is it later in day?
Don't know why so obsessed with this!

They know already

Just had a letter from the headmaster with a reminder about the arrangements for tomorrow and subsequent registering for 6th form. They can pick up their results from 8am. A reassurance that despite the results everybody has worked hard and there will be plenty of teachers on hand tomorrow for support and to try and get a good nights sleep tonight....all this is making me very anxious as he very likely knows what the results are!
DH and I are meant to be going out tonight, and now I'm doubting myself whether this is wise and if DS might need some support tonight.

@ChannelLightVessel hope you had a good reunion with your DD. My father died earlier this year and he was close to my DS and would have loved to have been there to see DS navigate these next steps in life.

Hope you are on your way out @DataColour it's probably just an annual round robin for reassurance not the letter of doom

frozendaisy · 20/08/2025 18:55

Ratty casually announced, so he must have known for weeks!, that they line up for photos tomorrow, "but all of us mum not just the 8s and 9s"

First we've heard of it!

Almost reassuringly back to normal of minimal information at the last minute.
Taking this as a good thing.

swampwitch0 · 20/08/2025 18:57

Dd back from pils.
Dh offered to take her out/got for a walk, but she says she wants to "wallow" 🙄 😃

yellowsun · 20/08/2025 19:06

Very nervous here. DS is autistic and not always a good judge of how exams have gone so feeling quite in the dark. He really wants to stay at his school for A Levels but the requirements are higher than local college. He has done induction days at both and hopefully won’t be too devastated if he can’t stay at school. He’s most worried about having to repeat maths.

Zanatdy · 20/08/2025 19:19

I don’t think all schools bring in the highest grade students for photos. DD got 11 x grade 9’s last year and they didn’t even ask to take a photo of her for X. The school seems to have stopped posting on X this year, so be interesting to see if they do post anything. It’s usually a mix of grades.

somethinggoodisgonnahappen · 20/08/2025 19:27

Marking my place ready for tomorrow. The exams feel an age ago now, all that cramming of information, it really is a strange old system!

Hope everyone gets what they need for next steps and we can all sleep easier!

We don't. They'll have a slip in their envelope asking them to see the photographer but we certainly don't invite them in specially.

Isabella40 · 20/08/2025 19:57

Anyone on here expecting low numbers? Child has SEND and a lot of issues at school which has resulted in poor support and low grades in mocks. Very proud they actually sat the exams with everything going on. We are just hoping for some numbers on the paper. Already been accepted onto a course at a local college with steps in place to further education and get where they need to be.

Pythag · 20/08/2025 19:59

I know the results of my students. I am a maths teacher. Pretty happy with them to be honest.

I found out on a similar thread last year that sometimes schools call parents/children asking them to come in at 9 ...... if they know they did really well and want them there for photos!
Unlikely to happen in our case, in fact, seeing the school number on my phone always made me feel physically sick - it was never good news!

My DS has been asked to go in at 9 tomorrow. He is kind, funny, helpful and extraordinarily lovely. He also has SN. I am crossing everything for passes in maths and English. He will definitely not be posing with a sheet of 9s. I am far more nervous than he is. He has gone to a football match tonight which will hopefully be a great distraction. If only being an awesome kid could get you GCSEs. All our DC would have nothing to worry about then.

swampwitch0 · 20/08/2025 20:02

@Isabella40
That sounds really promising. Supporting send dc through exams is not for the fainthearted and it sounds like your dd has a plan in place, no matter what.
Dd didn't do very well in her mocks (with the exception of drama and art...) but she's worked really hard so what will be will be.
She's had a change of post 16 plans and so now needs 5 x 4s which has taken the pressure off (a bit..)

We are hoping for 4’s with maybe a 5 or two if we are lucky. 🤞🏼

Older dds FE college asked certain students to go in on results day - the ones that got 3/4 A*s - and they were on the local news.
Older dd got 3 x As but she wasnt interested 😃

Glad you're pleased with your pupils results

They did AQA. They are a set three in a grammar school. Every single one of them got a grade 7 or 8, which for most of them is what they should have got.

swampwitch0 · 20/08/2025 20:11

Set 3?
7 & 8s?
Blimey.
Well done to them (and you) 👏

But @swampwitch0 set 3 in a grammar school is equivalent to set one or possibly two in a comprehensive school given they’ve already been through the 11+ academic selective test…

MamaElephantMama · 20/08/2025 20:21

My DD has been to have her nails done and is hanging out with her friends. Totally unfazed!

swampwitch0 · 20/08/2025 20:27

Dd has had a homemade pizza for dinner and I've told her she is allowed a small fruit cider if she wants 😃
I'm feeling quite meh this evening...It's been a long few months and I think it's caught up with me.
