Just about to go and meet DD at the station: last saw her on 1st July. Not surprisingly, feeling a bit emotional, so it’s making me tear up hearing about the DC who have lost a grandparent when they were coping with GCSEs as well. DF died when DD was two, and that was the thing he was sad about, that he wouldn’t see his DGC grow up. On the other hand, DD has a great relationship with her other three DGPs: she’s just been staying overnight with XPILs, and she wants DM with us tomorrow to collect her results for extra support.

Just had a letter from the headmaster with a reminder about the arrangements for tomorrow and subsequent registering for 6th form. They can pick up their results from 8am. A reassurance that despite the results everybody has worked hard and there will be plenty of teachers on hand tomorrow for support and to try and get a good nights sleep tonight....all this is making me very anxious as he very likely knows what the results are!
DH and I are meant to be going out tonight, and now I'm doubting myself whether this is wise and if DS might need some support tonight.

@ChannelLightVessel hope you had a good reunion with your DD. My father died earlier this year and he was close to my DS and would have loved to have been there to see DS navigate these next steps in life.

waitingquietly · 20/08/2025 15:22

Ds1 and Ds2 ( also getting one result tomorrow ) have just been coaching me to play clash royal - anything to keep the house cheerful ! I lost DPs during the pandemic though not from covid - but my DF was the boys number one fan - and DS is very very like him - I hadn’t really considered it till now but there will be empty seats tomorrow

swampwitch0 · 20/08/2025 15:32

I've made dd a cake on request.
Hoping she's not too anxious tonight - she's not had an anxiety attack for a while :(

MissyB1 · 20/08/2025 15:34

Ds has suddenly had a big wobble about 6th form, he’s staying at his school for it (obviously depending on grades). But now he’s saying he only has one real friend in his year who is staying. I’ve given him a pep talk, he really listened and seemed to calm down. I think the nerves are just starting to show now.

CatHairEveryWhereNow · 20/08/2025 15:39

DD2 thankfully out with her siblings on their now annual trek to nearby seaside town - so is sutiblable distracted and will likely be back late if prior two years is anything to go by.

She'd hoped to take a friend this year - but friend is quite shy but friend back out last minute with nerves. One of the many times I'd glad with had three close togther as they do offer each other support and that push to do things when nerves and over thinking attack.

Times are now 9-11 to go in for results - and DD2 made arrangements to meet up with mates to go together. Then she got to be at college by 1 for her appointment to get registered - so will have to work buses out for her.

It should be fine - but if not there's a college number to ring - worse she may not get the maths grade needed to do further maths - we'll have to see - worse than that would be a serve shock though school been a issue all along I think she worked hard so fingers crossed it pays off for her.

Thank you for the thread @QueenMabby .
Placemarking for tomorrow. Thank God I'll only have to do this once 🤦🏾‍♀️.

Greenbriar · 20/08/2025 15:49

Thanks too @QueenMabby! Just trying to get through today. Results will be available online tomorrow for DS, not sure what time (school has never said).

Does anyone know where I can find the AQA grade boundaries (Maths, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, English Language, Geography, Spanish)?

Are they out already, and are they all in one place for a variety of subjects?

They will all be released tomorrow at 8am

QueenMabby · 20/08/2025 16:06

Grade boundaries won’t be out until tomorrow. They will be on the websites for each exam board.

My ds gets his results tomorrow. He has such high expectations of himself that I am very nervous that he might be disappointed.
A previous poster asked if a school could give hints about results the day before. I think that they are absolutely not allowed to...

Slimtoddy · 20/08/2025 16:34

Like so many I am worried. DS had a number of challenges over the last year or so culminating in three separate diagnosis including ASD. They were allowed extra time at exams but I would say for over half the exams he had to argue with invigilator who would go away and check. I wrote to school several times about this and they promised to fix it but they didn't. Caused unnecessary stress.

Does anyone know a good website that shows what you can do if you don't get desired grades for the 6th form of choice. Obviously I am hoping it won't come to this but trying to prepare mentally if it does.

GameWheelsAlarm · 20/08/2025 16:34

I've not done this before so don't know the drill. When people say things like "he was 2 points off getting a 9" is that information you automatically get as part of the results tomorrow, or do you have to apply for it?

EmeraldJeanie · 20/08/2025 16:53

Will Head teachers know results already? I know they get them the day before but what sort of time? Just curious 🤔

peanutcookie · 20/08/2025 16:58

Pinkflower100 · 20/08/2025 12:29

Is that literally the SLT members or heads of subject departments?

In our school it's only SLT todayw. Department heads find out early tomorrow morning and then rest of the staff shortly before the students are due in.

I usually go in, I have 2 Y11 classes this year but DS2 has his results too. I'm feeling quite conflicted as I know he isn't bothered about me being at home for when he calls but I want to be there and at the same time at my school. I think I may go in. I live very close to home so can be back quickly if needed. If he does well he will be out with his mates anyway, not at home which is why I'm thinking I can go to my own school. Sorry I'm waffling a bit. I'm feeling quite nervous. DS2 is youngest of 4 (all the others did brilliantly) and doesn't seem to have done as much work as I think he could have done. He needs four 7s and four 8s to be able to stay on in his 6th form and needs an 8 to be able to do Maths A Level. I'm just not sure he has managed it. He does have a back up offer from another school but obviously he wants to stay on where he is.

FDALurker · 20/08/2025 16:59

Another one placemarking for tomorrow! Communication from school has been poor throughout the GCSE period and we only had the results arrangements confirmed this week.

They have to collect the results from school between 10am-12pm which seems much later than everyone else! It’s also going to be a rush at school as DD’s enrolment appointment at 6th form college is at 11am (no 6th form at her school) so fingers crossed she gets the grades she needs as there will be very little time to digest them before we have to dash off.

Good luck to everyone nervously waiting

justteanbiscuits · 20/08/2025 12:50

Anyone who has been through it before.. I know I see people saying things like "he was just 3 points off a 7" or what ever. Do the results give that level of detail? What their actual score was, not just the result?

Yes they will get a score. The grade boundaries will also be published by tomorrow morning and staff will have checked to see who is close to the next grade to see if worth a re-mark

EmeraldJeanie · 20/08/2025 17:02

So, will SLT know now or is it later in day?
Don't know why so obsessed with this!

My dh used to be a head of department. He was able to log into the exam board portal in the early hours of the morning, around 4am. He could never sleep the night before so I remember getting up to him compiling spreadsheets of results the day before the results came out.

EmeraldJeanie · 20/08/2025 17:08

Thanks, Michele09...
I think always hate people knowing things before me! Character flaw (amongst many!)...

frozendaisy · 20/08/2025 17:17

Can I just ask again, do we get marks on the GCSE results paper slip?
Ratty won't give two shakes of a lamb's tail if the grades are fine.

If it helps I think everything was AQA except Englishes which were Eduqas and Comp Sci was Pearson which might be another name for Edexcel.

Grade boundaries come out tomorrow at 8am on all the exam boards website. The odf will have a list of the grade boundaries and them near the end the breakdown per subject - per exam paper. So for Englih Lit what you needed on paper 1 separately for each grade and also paper 2 as well.

On the exam sheet you'll get the total mark per subject (next to the grade). Staff and teachers will know their marks per exam paper in each subject. So ask them if you want to know. This applies for every GCSE other than English Language which won't have the total mark on the results sheet - teachers will still have this, so you can ask. Its because instead it will show their grade (pass, merit or distinction) for their spoken English language speech.

Downloads from 8am today.

Pinkflower100 · 20/08/2025 17:25

It’s a shame about not being able to see the English lang score as that’s the one I’m worried about. I guess if we are near to a grade boundary the teachers will let us know?
