Ds passed ALL of his exams , lowest mark he received was a 7 , to say we are unbelievably proud is an understatement!

He was in poorly in the lead up to his exams and admitted to hospital halfway through them and had to miss some, so the fact he’s done this amazing is just outstanding 💙

Thrilled for him (and you!)
💙

MackenCheese · 21/08/2025 12:10

Truly amazing, @HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend. Well done to both of you !

RainyDayCoffee · 21/08/2025 12:11

@TeenToTwenties
Bloody pleased for you and DD.
Xx

We're so proud of DD2, all her hard work did pay off, and she got 5 x 8's, 6 x 7's and 1 x 6. She was diagnosed with a processing disorder in the middle of year 10, but school wouldn't facilitate the testing for extra time for exams, and she was predicted 4's, 5's and 6's. She really knuckled down, did virtually nothing but revise for 4 months solid and her results are a reflection of that. She was really worried about English Language, and she'd made a plan for if she didn't pass, but she ended up with a 7, she was shocked!

She's doing Maths, Physics and 3D Design A Levels, and got 8's in all the corresponding GCSEs (1 mark off a 9 in Design Tech, but says she's not fussed about a remark cos "It's not going to change my life, is it?"; fair enough!)

Saeurcat · 21/08/2025 12:17

Really proud of DD, we are in Wales so use the old letter system,
2 As (1 A in maths but then a U for further maths, the original maths teacher left and they had someone different and I do think this has made a difference!)
5 A’s and 5 B’s

Shes beating herself up a bit as was expecting a higher grade in one of her subjects but I think she’s done amazing!
She will have a place for the A levels she wants to do at the sixth form she wants to attend.

well done to all your young adults for making it through!

AQA?
If so, I'd definitely push for a remark

Why do you say this @swampwitch0? DD got a 6 (1 off a 7) in language and 7 in lit and has been working at 8/9 level. AQA. She's gutted.

There have been issues with AQA marking

Oh and we went clear on the TB test!

Praise Be!! That is fabulous news.

Poisoningpigeons · 21/08/2025 12:27

DD2 has been contacted by school, she missed an 8 in one subject by 3 marks and a 9 in another subject by 1 mark. They have sent info on remarking if that’s what we want. IMO there’s no need as neither are subjects she is doing at A-level (and this morning she has already enrolled at her first choice college). But we’ll leave the decision between her and her teachers. She’s cheered up after confirming her college.

DD1 can’t enrol at her first choice college until this time next week as we are bottom of the criteria list. And she has refused to enrol at her backup college (which she can do online right now) because “there’s no point, I won’t be going there!” 🤦🏻‍♀️ I have tried to explain why it is a good idea but as we all know, mothers know nothing…

Rubiscoisfantastic · 21/08/2025 12:28

My son was written off for most of his school life. He has an EHCP for dyslexia, ADHD and visual stress. I was told he would never access GCSEs and shouldn’t be in mainstream.

Well, he’s bloomin’ smashed his GCSEs! 1x6, 2x5s, 2x4s 1x3 and a merit in construction.

I am sooo bloody proud of him. He’s off to college to pursue his dream of being a carpenter. 😍

Hmmm
Dd missed a 7 in drama by 1 mark...

It’s worth doing as some universities and some degree courses look at GCSE results as well as obviously A level results/interview etc. could make the difference in an offer.

There have been issues with AQA marking

What are you hearing about marking? DD was 5 marks off the next grade up in Lit and we were going to leave it, but if there are issues, maybe we should speak to school.

Checking in.

As expected. He's happy, I'm relieved. The higher ones are in his A level choices.
The 5s are in English Lit and Lang and he's a bit disappointed as he was predicted 6 or 7. It seems to be an issue for others as well (he did AQA). I've said if there is an issue the school will handle it. It doesn't impact him.

DarkYearForMySoul · 21/08/2025 12:33

Obviously wouldn’t boast in real life so may I shout out my girl’s results here?

My fabulous AuDHD, socially isolated daughter, who has had such a hard time with bereavement and bullying just got: four 7s, four 8s (one with a merit), and a 9.

I’m so proud of her ❤️

Last year loads of scripts had to be remarked
Always worth it imo if it seems odd

swampwitch0 · 21/08/2025 12:36

That being said, dd isn't bothered about getting her drama grade looked at 🤷‍♀️

We are still waiting to find out if got into 6th form. 😢 1.30pm deadline.

AnonymousBleep · 21/08/2025 12:42

Michele09 · 21/08/2025 11:44

Same here but got a high mark in 1 paper and really low in the other. One mark off a 7.
Got a 9 in language. Annoyingly her lowest grade and what she is doing at A level and wants to do a degree in so very disappointed in this one grade.

Yep my son was going to do Eng Lit for A-level and now understandably doesn't want to.

Saeurcat · 21/08/2025 12:44

Do schools always contact pupils/families if they think a remark is worth it?
how many points off the boundary would you consider for a remark?
(asking as Dd has a few that are within 10 marks off)

10 is quite a lot. Most schools say if within 1 or 2 or of something looks odd

OneFootAfterTheOther · 21/08/2025 12:50

Ds2 has had an awful year. Appendicitis, his closest friend completing suicide and his granddad dying.

5 8s 2 7s and a 6. (The school suggested he dropped two subjects to give himself breathing space). So proud and frankly relieved.

Thanks! I've emailed her English teacher to see what she thinks.
