Good luck to everyone. This is bringing back so many memories! 3 years ago DS was on a swimcamp in Croatia and Facetimed us from there after morning training to tell us his results. A couple of his friends were doing the same thing. Luckily they all received good results. That was his first experience of travelling without us. Now we're waiting for him to come back from the US and start year 2 of uni!

She did it! 6 in Maths after all summer convincing herself she had failed! Other than that, all 8’s except Drama, which was a 7 and Art, which she knew she was getting a 5 for, as she developed a deep loathing for her coursework and completely switched off in Y11 to focus on her other studies.

Apparently all her friends have got what they needed too, so they’re heading into the village to celebrate.

She has to enrol online by 2.00 pm today, but is still flip-flopping over which subjects she wants to do!

You can put the subjects she's most sure for and others she wants. She can switch in the first 2ish weeks of 6th form anyways if she doesn't like the lessons and/or content. She can also switch if she emails them and has the grades before September.

I'd get her to ask the school or look on the specifications on the exam boards or schools website summary of the topics and the structure of the A-levels.

How many exams, what sort of questions (1 30 sourcr marker and then 2 x 25 markers as an example of AQA A,-level History). Look at the topics, how many topics are you doing and the percentage of each topic/paper on your grade (are they are 33.3% or one 20% and another 30%). Does she like the topics and what does she need foe university/a future career.

GroovyChick87 · 21/08/2025 09:29

He got an 8, five 7s, one 6 and Btec subjects were the equivalent of four Bs. Very proud and relieved.

ConBatulations · 21/08/2025 09:29

@Crazycat53 DS was similar a few years ago. They let him in as he was doing Science and maths A levels and he got 8/9 in those. Hope for the same for you.

CatHairEveryWhereNow · 21/08/2025 09:30

I was worried about her getting a needed A in maths - she got an A Star - (we in Wales so have letters still). She got A Star in Chemistry and A in other subject needed - so she fine for A-levels she wanted.

13 level 2 qualifications this time- all GCSE above a C - and only one C - couple of A stars, couple of As one C and rest Bs.

We're really pleased. (Though no-one needs that many Level 2 qualificatons let along one done before hand)

ghostyslovesheets · 21/08/2025 09:30

Dd3 passed Maths and English! Got passes in one science and art and a remark for Lit as she was 2 marks off a 4

this kid missed most of year 5 due to illness, then Covid - the illness left her with a brain injury that impacted on memory and concentration - I’m unbelievably proud of her

VioletIndigoBlueGreen · 21/08/2025 09:31

Just heard from DS, he got 11 x 9 and 1 x 8 (which was only 6 marks off a 9). Very proud of him!

Lutonsgirl · 21/08/2025 09:32

My dd also picked up results! She has gone from a 4 in English lang/ lit in the mocks to a 6 and 7 but is everything else was 8's and a 9, except biology at 7. Shes gutted about biology.

psuedocream3 · 21/08/2025 09:32

Good luck to everyone receiving their results today.

Another one where I'm not sure if DD will let me know the results, she didn't do well in her mocks compared to expected, and had to leave an exam due to illness, and walked out of another. I'm hoping she gets enough to get accepted on her college course. It's an anxious wait.

CocoPlum · 21/08/2025 09:33

Good marks here (7s and 8s) but a 6 in Lang which she is absolutely gutted by. She was aiming for 8/9 in both English subjects so to get a 6 and 7 has devastated her.

Thank you for giving me hope! yes it's maths & sciences he wants to do for A level. 🤞

GSCECelebrations · 21/08/2025 09:34

Dd was all 7/8/9s on past papers for science and I’m really nervous now. English she found hard and isn’t expecting above a 5 for that. She’s got a place at a difficult to get into outstanding 6th form anyway but my god I’m a nervous wreck. She’s gone to meet her friend now and her slot is before 10 so I hope I know soon!

SuperTrooper1111 · 21/08/2025 09:36

DD got what she needed for college, including maths! No resits! So, so proud of her.

ExamStuff · 21/08/2025 09:38

Finally got a text. She got 7 x 9s, 2 x 8s and 1 x 7. She’s so happy. And we are so glad this is over!

Well done to all the kids for their hard work and good luck to anyone still waiting.

Michele09 · 21/08/2025 09:39

Very odd English Literature result, her favourite subject. A 4 in paper 1 and a 9 in paper 2 resulting in a 6 just 1 mark off a 7. Going to ask for a remark of paper 1 just in case. All other subjects 7 to 9.

BobBobBobbing · 21/08/2025 09:42

4 7s, 2 6s and 3 5s. Absolutely chuffed for her as between illness (she has severe migraines and asthma- she was in hospital with pneumonia in March) and a period of school refusal after being attacked by a gang, her attendance for the 2 years was only 80% she has worked her socks off and is leaving school to go to college which is much more up her street. Enrollment appointment later!

Algonqueen · 21/08/2025 09:45

7x9s and 3x8s here - we’re over the moon!

SilverSnaffles · 21/08/2025 09:55

@TheLivelyViper thank you, I will pass that advice on to her. Problem is she is unsure what she wants to do. She was very determined and all about performing arts right up until the exams, then suddenly did an about turn and wanted to do A Levels. She’s strongest in English and History and her dream uni course is English with Creative Writing, but she’s worried about job prospects, given AI is likely to eliminate a lot of the roles those subjects would be best for. She loved the Sociology and Politics lessons on the taster day, but some of her older friends, keep telling her how they regret taking certain subjects, which is making her second guess herself.

psuedocream3 · 21/08/2025 09:55

DD got 3's and under, I suspect that she wont be able to do her college course now.

BellaI · 21/08/2025 09:56

She has done amazingly, 3 9s in her favourite subjects history and Spanish (A level ones) plus Eng Lit . 8 in English Lang (on grade boundary of 9 so asked for remark), 2 7s amazingly one in maths and comfortably in the grade, 3 6s in sciences that we don’t need going forward. This all from an average state comp but she has applied herself well and worked hard. Very proud parents today.

TeenToTwenties · 21/08/2025 09:57

psuedocream3 · 21/08/2025 09:55

DD got 3's and under, I suspect that she wont be able to do her college course now.

If it is vocational, then hopefully there is a Level 2 or Level 1 in the same area she can start on. All will not be lost.

DataColour · 21/08/2025 09:58

A mixed bag here and a bit disappointed for DS.

Quite a few 5s, including English Lit. 8 for maths and 7s for geography, biology and physics. Turns out school won't let him to geography and physics as they are in the same block, so need to decide between biology and chemistry. He only got a 6 for chemistry and although his school will take him on I'm not sure that's such a good idea. We need to talk about it when he gets home.
He got a 7 for English Language which was amazing as he was borderline to pass.

TeenageRooster · 21/08/2025 10:00

Best wishes to everyone. All 8s and 9s here and very proud. They've all done well through a very tough time to be at school 👏👏

TeenToTwenties · 21/08/2025 10:00

@DataColour Would changing schools be an option? Maths, Physics & Geography sounds like quite a good grouping to me.

I can’t keep up between the thread and all the texts going back and forth here, but wanted to say huge congratulations to @ghostyslovesheets dd.

My dd1 became very ill during secondary school and ended up dropping subjects gradually until she only had Maths and English left and those were taught at home. Your dd should be so proud of herself for overcoming so much and doing so well.
