Top possible marks all round for us! So proud of our two and not a single grade dropped as they had feared.

Grade Boundaries for Edexcel here: Grade Boundaries - June 2025 - GCSE (9-1)

For those who care, 144 needed to pass Foundation tier maths.

217 for a 9 in maths - that seems pretty high. 90%. My DD is desperate for a 9, will have to see how she got on at 9am.

DataColour · 21/08/2025 08:20

Congratulations 🎉 @AutumnOffGrid that's great!

Very happy son and proud mum.

Predicted between 6 - 9 across all subjects. At last parents evening a few teachers sat opposite us and told my DS that his grades were ok, but did he want to look back and know he could’ve tried harder and feel disappointed in himself. That kick up the arse changed his attitude and he just received news of 5 GCSE’s at an 8, and the other 5 at a 9.

@AutumnOffGrid Amazing results!

Great! That step up in effort has paid off and he now knows 1. It pays off and 2. How to step up...as he'll need that for A levels! Good luck to him. Enjoy celebrating!

Ds2 claims BBC claims this year is an all time low.

icanbewhatiwant · 21/08/2025 08:22

@whojamaflipI hope the tb tests are clear. dh retired from farming 7 years ago. Sold up completely (he’s 15 years older than me, so getting near retirement age) he had arable and cattle. He doesn’t miss the cows at all, he does miss market day and the social side of it. I think he’s glad he sold up when he did.

I just asked Ds if he can look at results online. He said not until 4pm. So I expect most will go in. Our school used to take a photo for the local paper and name those with the highest grades, but I noticed they haven’t done that the last few years.

SilverSnaffles · 21/08/2025 08:24

I didn’t get to sleep until gone 4.00 and was awake at 6.00. Woke dd at 7.30 and she is doing her usual auto-pilot morning routine. I know from experience there’s no point in talking to her until she’s done hair and make-up, as she’s not actually awake! Grin

I feel a bit strange not going with her to at least wait in the car, but none of her friends parents are and they are all supporting each other, which is nice. Broad mix of abilities in the group too, from one or two hoping for all 9’s to a mix of expectations with Maths related anxiety like dd and some just praying they get the 4’s and/or 5’s they need for the next step.

@Sisublondie my little dog is usually my comfort, but he’s in the bad books this morning. First dog ever to be allowed on my bed (tiny breed) after 32 years of having dogs and a blooming flea jumped onto my ipad last night!!!! 😫We have only had to deal with fleas once in all those years and that was when we were living with my PILs, whose cats brought them home. He doesn’t even mix with other dogs, so I am assuming he’s picked them up from where next doors cat keeps going in our garden.

I am now totally freaked out and itching all over, on top of the inevitable nerves of today. Hence very little sleep. I ordered an excessive amount of Indorex in the middle of the night and ddog will be getting a thorough bath first thing, before I ring the vet, along with every bit of soft furnishing in the house going through the hygiene steam cycle in the washing machine. <<shudders!!>>.

Anyway, back to the most important matter of today. Good luck everyone! Here’s hoping everyone gets what they need for their next stage. ☘

Yodeldodeldo · 21/08/2025 08:28

6 in everything here except Spanish 7 and English lit 5. She's a bit bummed about the 6 in biology and relieved with the 6 in maths.

Ultimately she's got into her A level courses so its a success.

SilverSnaffles · 21/08/2025 08:28

Congratulations! @AutumnOffGrid

SuperTrooper1111 · 21/08/2025 08:29

@Yodeldodeldo Those are great results! Well done your DD.

Hope your tummy settles quickly without any upset!!! I would think (hope) you were right about the thyme, so hopefully it is pre-GCSE-parental anxiety!

I went to sleep hoping I would wake up at 8.30, and I’m totally awake now!!! Going to do some work and hope that bores me to sleep 🥱

Thank you - tummy much better this morning thankfully - getting nervous tummy feelings now on seeing the Edexcel maths grade boundaries!

Got another 30 min to wait here. I’m a bag of nerves and given myself a stress headache.

Just thought I’d mention- same happened to us this year. Apparently it’s a bad year for fleas! Gave me the serious ick! Treated with indorex and nexgard and not seen one since but bleurgh! Hopefully you get it under control quickly.

Good luck to all!

ConBatulations · 21/08/2025 08:37

Hope everyone gets the results they need.
DD kept us waiting but logging and.is really happy. All 8 and 9.

SuperTrooper1111 · 21/08/2025 08:38

DD is up and on her second outfit change. She says she's fine but she's like a tightly coiled spring. Just want this morning to be over!

justteanbiscuits · 21/08/2025 08:39

Mixed bag. He got excellent results in what he needed excellent results in.. but a predicted 8/9 in English Language has come out a 6 (distinction in speaking) which has disappointed him.

YourRubyShaker · 21/08/2025 08:40

Good luck to all our DC’s! I’m extremely emotional, whereas DD is more concerned about her social plans later! 🤦‍♀️🫠🤞

MyDeftDuck · 21/08/2025 08:42

In a Year 10 end of year chemistry exam my DD got a 4.

The teacher rang to tell me he was going to talk to her about it but would be gentle as he knew she worked hard and had obviously had a bad day.

I explained to him that DD never did enough revision for any exam and managed to get away with this (as far as bollockings were concerned) by working hard in class and behaving like an angel.

He said "that's interesting" and the gentle talk became something a lot tougher.

She got a 7 in the mock and because of COVID that became her GCSE grade.

Sometimes toughness works!

GCSEeeek · 21/08/2025 08:45

She did it! She can stay at school and do the subjects she loves with her. I’m so relieved.

achangeofnameisasgoodasarest · 21/08/2025 08:45

Scores on the doors here - 4x8 and 4x9

thrilled.

HonestOpalHelper · 21/08/2025 08:47

Pinkflower100 · 20/08/2025 12:29

Is that literally the SLT members or heads of subject departments?

Depends entirely on the school, at ours SLT, HODs, MIS and anyone (teaching staff) who physically goes in to have a look, no emails to anyone else, but they can go in and have a gander.

Still its tomorrow now!!, good luck all those waiting!

Taurielwasntinthebook · 21/08/2025 08:47

We’re on holiday and won’t get the results until they post them on the app. 2 hours later!!! It’ll be 12 when we see them but hoping they might post them earlier!
Well done to everyone so far!

Exactly the same scenario for my DC, still a good grade but English marking is just more subjective than other subjects.
