New thread for results day. Deep breaths. We can do this!

Morning all! I actually got about 6 hours’ sleep! I did have a results day dream though. We picked up DD’s results in the brown envelope but no-one thought about opening it. Everyone was asking dd “what did you get” and dd was like “I don’t know. I haven’t opened it” so everyone was asking her to open it and she was just saying “I don’t need to - I’ve got my results”. Having woken up I still don’t know what she got!

I'm going in with ds. He wants me to at the moment. I can back off if need be.
I think it depends what he gets and if any friends about. His results are given by appointment with a teacher or the Head...

Ummm. What. Like a GP appointment??! Crikey!

I hope that it all goes really well and 🍀

😹.. it made sense to me! Don’t worry 😻

… I know what you mean.. DS18 is Spanish obsessed, and if he’d had to have changed from that, he wouldn’t have cared if he’d got 9’s in everything else. DS16 is totally different, he’s AuDHD, has had a shitty time all thro school with bullying and if he gets his “4 x 4” needed to start his long road “to do something in the law like you”, it’ll be a massive celebration here!

I really hope she storms maths! ( cooks it?! Yep! I’m sure that’s right!!) and gets into the selective place she has set her heart on! 🍀🍀🍀🍀😻

The less selective sixth form requires 7 in maths for loads of subjects. Although she’s good at it she finds it hard and struggles in it more than other things.

I hope your DS is happy with his results.

Morning I've been awake since 4am, really want to go make a cuppa but husband is sleeping on the sofa as he has a awful cough and he's asleep so I don't want to wake him making it.
So incredibly nervous now, we're driving dd to school but not sure yet if she wants us to go in with her.
She doesn't really have many friends so she'll be on her own, school opens at 9 so we will be there for opening.
Good luck everyone xx

Ugh
Not much sleep here...
Coffee ☕️ time

Morning!!!! Yep, Berocca boost for me! I’m looking at my little 🐩 who makes my hear bounce. Usually. HOW can he be all cute and sleeping?!?! Without a care in the world!!

Hope your coffee works! I’m thinking of dissolving two of these bad boys……..caffeine OD outside school! 😈

Sisublondie · 21/08/2025 00:27

Eeek. That’s not good to find out at this time of the morning! Sounds like your plan with DH is the best idea. I hope you get it sorted- and good luck!

Thanks @Sisublondie. We told him to charge up his laptop last night too in readiness. At my school we enrol in person but his give all the info to the students (different to what little info they deem to share with parents) & expect the kids to relay back to their parents (ha!) & it's an online enrollment (with 2 different times given out - 1 email saying it MUST be done before midday and the other saying they can't login UNTIL midday).

I'm nervous on all counts as I want my Y11s to do brilliantly too. Last week the A Level boundaries changed massively and I'm worried the same will happen today. I've been up since 4.30 and now on the sofa. I brought my book along but I doubt I'll read it. Will probably doom scroll until it's time for me to get up and go to school. I'll be leaving before DS and DH.

Fourth time doing this and it doesn't get any easier! Hope everyone's DC get what they are hoping for

That’s funny! Bloody annoying you woke before results, tho!!! I hope she gets e returning she has worked so hard for!! And, I’ll be forever grateful for this thread ( and the previous. ) that kept me sane the past few months !!

We are finally here!!!!!!! 🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀

swampwitch0 · 21/08/2025 06:36

@Sisublondie
I'm thinking of getting a dog...I had them growing up 😊
I'm very tired. At least its not too warm here today

MrsTWH · 21/08/2025 06:40

I’ve been up since 6am as well, thought I’d check to see if any other parents were also suffering with nerves!

my DS has had a rocky road in secondary school, getting an ASD diagnosis and having to change school in the middle of Year 10 due to bullying. He’s worked his socks off (mostly…!) but considering where we were at Christmas of Year 10 with school refusal and suicidal thoughts, I am as proud of him as I could possibly be already today. He is hoping for all 7-9s but I’d be thrilled if he just got what he needed for his A Levels. 🤞🤞

He won’t let me come with him at 9:30, he wants to walk in and open his envelope alone. But the results also go to his school email at 8:30 so he is torturing me. I might have to sneaky peak on his laptop when he leaves the house, is that bad??

Good luck everyone!! 🍀

Fightingdragonswithyou · 21/08/2025 06:51

Oh bloody hell, the day is here!

Couldn't sleep so up stupidly early on my day off and only lie in of the week!

I just want to see some 4s on that paper, DD had a wobble that everyone was going to get 9s and hers would be rubbish. I pointed out that she's never passed an English exam so a 4 for her is like a 9 for someone else.

It does annoy me that the ones getting 9s are photographed and held up as heroes when lower grades for other kids are actually a MASSIVE achievement for them.

Anyway, rant over 😂

Teabing · 21/08/2025 06:53

chalkyc2 · 21/08/2025 06:16

Oh he is……

I’ll be waiting in the quad…..

This sounds oddly familiar!
Best of luck to all DCs ☘️☘️☘️

icanbewhatiwant · 21/08/2025 06:57

@MrsTWHI’d be looking. I wouldn’t be able to resist. That’s one reason why all my dc’s have locked me out of their devices! 😂 so I can’t look at anything. All laptops, phones etc have passwords.

MrsHamlet · 21/08/2025 06:59

The most important result to me is Bob's - he's worked so hard and I really really want him to get a 4.

Best of luck to all!

icanbewhatiwant · 21/08/2025 06:59

@QueenMabbyi love the dream. Don’t let dd forget to open them!

SuperTrooper1111 · 21/08/2025 07:05

Morning! Managed to sleep through by some miracle. Whatever happens today I am so ridiculously proud of DD for managing to overcome her anxiety to sit any exams at all. Best of luck everyone!

It is, indeed!!!! That’s crap missing lie in…. I have tomorrow off but had booked a sight test at 10am… I foresaw insomnia so rescheduled that yesterday!

Rant away!!! DS got only two 4’s in his mocks, maths and eng lit.., if he got a 4 in English, in fact, in everything, I will be putting up my bastardised 80th balloon hoop up in the Main Hall in school myself!!! Shout out, again, to the 4’s, we need to wake up to bloody headlines like that on GCSE Results Day, too! ND/SEN achievements too! 🥳🥳🥳

🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀for that blessed 4!

DataColour · 21/08/2025 07:07

Best of luck to all the DCs!

I hardly slept last night and up early. DS still asleep. Only saw him briefly yesterday so hope he's ok, but he seemed very calm yesterday.

I'm going into work expecting a call at some point during the morning. DH is off to his 6th form to enrol students and DD is off to her friend's to "revise and keep out of the way" until we are all home end of the day. So nervous here.

You, too!! Yes!! That is truly the bottom line!!!! 💕

SuperTrooper1111 · 21/08/2025 07:08

@Fightingdragonswithyou Amen to that! I also wish schools would do more to recognise the fact that getting a 4 when you are SEN takes as much hard work and grit as getting a 9!

SB1971 · 21/08/2025 07:10

Lots of luck everyone-been awake for an hour or so and now thinking about getting out of bed and pottering before waking DS up. Eek -am nervous now!

Libre2 · 21/08/2025 07:10

@Fightingdragonswithyou I am with you on that. I suspect DS will be nearer the top end but he said all he really wants is for a friend of his who has secured a post-16 apprenticeship to get a 4 in English as he has only ever achieved it in one set of mocks and really needs it to get on, but you’re right, I don’t know if school will celebrate that as hard as a 9.

DS seems very sanguine but I would like him to get a good grade in English lit and history as he did try really hard with those.

I am knackered as a. Too much wine and b. Up three times with DS’s hypo alarms for diabetes.

Getting him up in 22 minutes…

Good luck all and especially good luck with @whojamaflipwith the TB testing.

mojobrojo · 21/08/2025 07:14

Checking in for the big day, although I’ve been awake on and off for hours. Woke up at 3:33. I hope that is not a sign of the numbers we will see this morning 😬

ditismooi · 21/08/2025 07:14

Good luck all - we’ve had a busy summer - DS is hyper this am - just under 2 hrs to go to collect in person !

Fightingdragonswithyou · 21/08/2025 07:16

Thanks for the agreement. Up the 4s!

I had a conversation with a very irritating woman the other week on how her DD deserved 9s because she worked SO hard and hard work must be rewarded.
I did point out that my DD had also worked SO hard through the worst possible time of her life and just because a child doesn't get a 9 it doesn't mean they haven't worked hard!

Plus her DD is an insufferable little madam and my DD is bloody lovely 😂

9’s really aren’t the be all and end all in life anyway. Work ethic, personality, resilience are all more important.

I really hope your dd is rewarded for her hard work 🙏
