New thread to carry us all through the summer as we transition from dealing with stressed teens to dealing with bored teens!

@DuchessofRealityno. One post says their Ds has a 7 in combined science, they wanted to do biology and chemistry at A level, the person was asking where they’d struggle at A level with a 7. I’m going to find the comment and ask how they know results already.

frozendaisy · 20/08/2025 08:21

Oh lotdie lord

might put out a set of clothes this evening

everyone still asleep here I will make coffee and watch Ratty unravel during the day

SuperTrooper1111 · 20/08/2025 08:27

Just woken up from a stress dream! We were on the school playing field which in my dream was the field that used to be behind my childhood home and they couldn’t find DD’s results! Then a fox strolled by. Is that symbolic??? Gah, roll on tomorrow!

Sisublondie · 20/08/2025 08:31

Well, I woke up from quite a deep sleep dream ( that was neither about the results or a nightmare!) at 5am… I then heard DS come out of his room…said he was off for a shower…… (🤷‍♀️!)…… He popped into mine on the way back, gave me permission to ask for photos with him today ( he hates them….. I still shudder at his last day at school sh&t show, for those who remember 🙄🙀!), and all I could think to myself is DO NOT ASK if ok on his brothers birthday.. as it’s tomorrow too, which would bring up the whole 🐘 at 5am! Anyway, he breezily said “ I love you “ and went back into his room….. Hopefully to get more sleep, as he was definitely still up at 1.30/2am…..

Just get this hell overwork!!!!! I hate how the results are floating out there!! Waiting for my 🧚 !!!

My 2 friend’s who are English but live in Rome and Switzerland respectively got their son’s results yesterday as they did Cambridge IGCSEs.

Ooooh!!!!! I’m loving this!! Well, not that you were stressed, obvs!!, but I was so into my Dream Interpretations!! I’ll see if I can find my old Uni book!! 😈😹!!

.. I don’t think it needs my Forensic Psychology masters to say….. “ Yep! Gotta be a bit of anxiety about the exam results going on”! Only one “ sleep” left! Try and have a nice drink, coffee or whatever, and try and get over the stress… of the stress dream! 😴

Whoooo · 20/08/2025 08:36

Happy birthday @Sisublondie 🍰🥂🍾

Whoooo · 20/08/2025 08:37

I'm going to get a coffee ☕️ and try and ignore the creeping sense of dread...

This thread is timing itself nicely for a shiny new one tomorrow!

Hope you enjoy your birthday @Sisublondie CakeFlowersGin
DD is back home tomorrow afternoon. I’m meeting her at the station: it will be just like The Railway Children, ahem.

Thank you! We are all going out for lunch, which doesn’t usually happen!

Ahhh .. The Railway Children! Exciting!! I hope it goes just like that!! With “ Mummmmmyyyyyyyyyyy”!! 😻😹

mojobrojo · 20/08/2025 08:44

We have a busy day ahead of us to try and take everyone's mind off things. DH is taking DS off for a day out related to their hobby and I have 16th birthday presents to wrap, birthday breakfast foods to buy, and a cake to bake (as well as a full day of work). We'll doing results/6th form registration at the school first and then birthday afterwards...

I just asked ChatGPT and it reckons a fox in a dream can be something to do with cleverness – yes please! 😂 Maybe it's a sign DD has done better than she thinks.

Happy birthday! 🎂

SuperTrooper1111 · 20/08/2025 08:47

@mojobrojo Oh gosh, your DS turns 16 on results day?! That's a double whammy. I hope he gets the grades he needs so he can have a brilliant day.

somethinggoodisgonnahappen · 20/08/2025 08:52

i’ve seen a post by an English teacher mentioning how the GCSE AQA English lit and language marking last year was all over the place and lots of papers were remarked / regraded. Assume they will have tried to prevent an issue of that scale happening again this year?

Also talk of regrading / remarking - I don’t remember seeing any grade boundaries when I did my GCSEs in the dark ages you just got a slip with your grades on and that was that!

Sisublondie · 20/08/2025 08:55

Whoooo · 19/08/2025 23:05

33 hours and counting 😀
Dd and I have just watched sewing bee. Patrick is gorgeous 😍

23 hours now! I found out we can go in at 8am?? But, I want to check as although it was a high up teacher who told me, it was at a social event and he didn’t look certain! 🤔😹.

Patrick, yes, he is, isn’t he? 😻 I used to be really good friends with him, pre fame. He is really as lovely and fun as he comes across ! Ahhhh, back in the day 🥳

Whoooo · 20/08/2025 08:57

Dd is spending the day at grandparents today.
Older dd not back until tomorrow lunchtime (she's had a lovely time)
The plan is to go out for a meal tomorrow evening (as we did for older dd)
I've got her a card and a very grown up leather messenger type bag for college 💙

Whoooo · 20/08/2025 08:58

@Sisublondie
Whaaaat!??
Omg.
I bet he smells like caramel <swoon>

waitingquietly · 20/08/2025 09:04

this time tomorrow we will know eek . We aren’t allowed in unless we are called in if sixth form requirements missed - so just checking email tomorrow and hoping he tells me ! Good luck all

Whoooo · 20/08/2025 09:11

If the weather is ok, we may walk to school.
Dh has the day off (as he did for older dd)

It is indeed! It’s ready to go but think we ought to fill this thread up first!

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/secondary/5395201-year-11-20242025-the-results-day-thread?utm_campaign=thread&utm_medium=app_share

Once we start in September then I’ll do a new on again in “Further Education” to take us into sixth form - whether that’s school, college, A-levels, T-levels, B-techs or whatever!

labradorservant · 20/08/2025 09:40

DD is off with her friends to Primrose Hill today. We are from Sarf London so hope she doesn’t get lost! I’m spending the day getting organised. We are off to Greece on a 5pm flight so need to make sure we are all ready today incase we have an issue tomorrow. Also have a pile of ‘life admin’ to sort.

Whoooo · 20/08/2025 09:48

Thank you @QueenMabby

Eccle80 · 20/08/2025 09:49

@mojobrojo I think I have probably said before on here, but I got my results on my 16th birthday too. I really hope he is happy with his results and can get the registration done quickly so he can enjoy the rest of his day!

@somethinggoodisgonnahappen same for me, I don’t remember knowing actual marks or grade boundaries, so would have had no idea if it was close or not, or anyone having remarks (though I know DH did appeal an A level result). I guess everything being electronic now makes all that much easier than in our day.

SuperTrooper1111 · 20/08/2025 09:56

Thanks @QueenMabby, these threads have been so helpful and supportive!

SuperTrooper1111 · 20/08/2025 09:59

@Whoooo We have a card ready and also a new laptop, which also partly a surprise birthday present too (summer baby). DD has got her dad’s old one at the moment and we figured she needs a decent one for all her BTech coursework. So if she doesn’t do as well as she hopes the laptop will hopefully distract her a bit.
