DD finished today too, she had DT this morning. She was severely flagging yesterday on the final revision, even though she needed to do it. However it was ok and she’s been chilling with a couple of friends in the garden all afternoon. No prom at her school so it’s nice that she’s doing something.

Thank goodness it’s all over!

YAY!!! Well done for finishing with the rest of us!!! You must be so relieved!

Chilling in the garden sounds perfection 😸!

Woohoo! We are done! FM good. One 2 marker took her nearly 10 mins though - maybe the same question as your dd mentioned @labradorservant!

She has a party this evening but is frankly shattered so I’m not sure how long she’ll last.

Whhoooooooooo Hoooooooooooooo indeed!!!!!! 🥳 🌟!

Congratulations!!!!! I hope the party goes well!!!! 😻

Whoooo · 18/06/2025 17:32

Found you! :)
Dd is already seeming bored 🙄
She's off out tonight, we are going shopping tomorrow, then has her hobby activity and party on sunday.
Dh back from his trip on Sunday too so I might suggest he finds some jobs for her to do

Yay, you’re here!!!! Oh, I feel for you! I’ve yet to have the “ I’m bored” from DS!! He’s too glued to his 🖥️ 😹…

Shopping sounds fab tomorrow! As does her hobby and party…. 🎉.. I’d defo get DH to come up with some fun ideas on his return! 😸

Oblomov25 · 19/06/2025 00:01

Are we doing prom pictures? Oh please say yes. I love all that. I'll post ds2 minus head! 😉

ChannelLightVessel · 19/06/2025 00:16

A headless DD!

@ChannelLightVessel my DD has told me she plans to take Uno to prom so they have something to do 😂 she (and her friends) are not really the party type...

SilverSnaffles · 19/06/2025 00:37

Found you! Thank you for the new thread.

I just read everything to catch up, but have only managed to retain snippets. Good job it wasn’t me sitting the exams!

Well done to those that finished today. Dd finished on Monday, was vile Monday evening, then after a good sleep, back to to her usual bonkers, happy self yesterday.

Yesterday morning I was thinking how lovely it was to have all three dc home, chatting away, playing computer games, singing, playing guitar, etc. Dd had a friend over, then went for a picnic, dd1 has her partner here so they’re happy and ds1 has been busy planning a couple of outings with uni friends.

Today, I am hot, exhausted, up to my eyeballs with party prep and have been reminded that, despite loving them all being happy and relaxed, I am not so happy about the mess they inevitably leave in their wake. Not to mention the fridge, freezer and larder appear to have been visited by a swarm of locusts!

Dh is working away all week, again, so I think I am feeling a little outnumbered!

Dd is out shopping with her friends on Friday, it’s our party (with 6 guests staying over) on Saturday, then dd is off to another party on Sunday and ds1 has a day out with his uni friends.

@ChannelLightVessel I love that your dd is wearing a suit to prom. My dd wanted to initially, but then decided everyone will be expecting her to, so she would have a dress instead. That reminds me, we still need a bag and shoes and we only have a week to go.

ChannelLightVessel · 19/06/2025 00:42

She’s back! Seems to have enjoyed herself, although was a bit annoyed that the “quiet room” turned out to be a quiet area. No reading required. Only one person removed for drunken vomiting.

QueenMabby · 19/06/2025 06:44

@ChannelLightVessel- I love the fact that the flashes of colour on DD’s trainers seem to match her top! Glad she had a good time.

dd had a good time at her friend’s house. Only about a dozen of them in the end so more of a hang-out than a party but she did have one can of raspberry vodka lemonade so felt very edgy! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Glad all went well with @ChannelLightVessel prom and @QueenMabby party! One last A-Level today (Maths, for foster dd) and then we are DONE with an epic couple of exam months.

Sisublondie · 19/06/2025 08:29

I’ve finally got it!! @Whooooand all others with “ Bored Kevin’s!”…….. I’ve just gone in to DS’ room…,, he’s sat at his desk, as usual, headphones on, looking at his screen, tapping away on his keyboard and clicking on his mouse…….

“ What are you playing?”…….
“ Nothing. I’m too bored to know what to play”….
”Well, you could come and help me do my plants?”
”No, you’re alright”…….

I fear it has taken three days, granted, but the “Boredom” Bandaid has been ripped off, and I’m now shafted!!! Where we live does not lend itself to easy access of things to do!! If he can get in the mood to be outside, he does love the gym, but obviously hates when “D” or any of his bullies are there, cause it’s awkward as hell and then he feels like crap turning and leaving straight away… he went with DS18 yesterday and LOVED it! But, DS18 had a day off.., anyway!, I’m sure ( HOPE!) normal service is resumed soon!

CatHairEveryWhereNow · 19/06/2025 08:43

We did pizza ice cream and TV yesterday afternoon and evening as both done with A-levels and GCSE - DH was around as well.

DD2 already got rid of all the revison notes and given me the books to get rid of and has plans with friends to go out today - so she must have some level of confidence she did okay. DS up and worried about getting bored but should start back volteering soon and Saturday I'll mention job hunting to him.

rosemarble · 19/06/2025 11:40

Here you are!
Since DS's last exam on Monday I've had a bit of a break from this thread.
But, I'm back now :-)
I'll do a catch up later.

achangeofnameisasgoodasarest · 19/06/2025 11:54

I had a tearful phone call this morning. DD2 just wants to come home - and wants her own space (they share at school). And who can blame her. I think the music outreach/symphony combo was too much yesterday.

Fortunately we are down tomorrow to see her in a concert so I've compromised on getting there really early, taking her out for lunch, helping her to pack unwanted stuff in the car and then taking her home in the evening. She can be home until Monday and sleep in all she likes - today's tearfulness definitely precipitated by her roommate getting cross that she wouldn't get up at 8.

Lovely to hear about relaxing/partying etc. I've put the ice cream maker in the freezer so ready to make some of that too. Looking forward to having her back for a bit.

Oh, how absolutely upsetting for you- and DD! I’m so sorry. It’s so good you’ve managed to get a compromise sorted out- and your plans for lunch before the concert tomorrow sounds lovely.., as does the chilling down ice cream machine! ( tho, I think it’s the room mate that also needs to chill 👿.. ).

I can totally get wanting to have to have zero interaction with anyone right now. Home, you and to sleep till the hell she wants sounds perfection right now 😻., I do hope things improve, and to tomorrow goes without a hitch- and beautifully! 🤗

Not thread related- but possibly! I got an email saying I’ve got a PM on here- and had a poke round and don’t know where to find them?! First one, as until I met you guys I was Mumsnet virgin!! 🙏for any heads up!

Oblomov25 · 19/06/2025 12:21

I can't see PM's on my phone. Only when I log on, at work on a computer. Very top right, little man/ figure, click on that , takes you to PM's.

IThinkImAMathmoMum · 19/06/2025 12:42

Enjoyed a shopping trip with DD and found her a prom dress for tomorrow (she already had one she was planning to wear but we realised that it will be too warm for the current weather.) We got milkshakes on the way home as well :)

OliveWah · 19/06/2025 13:00

Thanks for the new thread @QueenMabby!

I felt a bit odd yesterday morning, driving up to school - I've been doing the school run for 14 years, and this was my last day!

DD2 had DT yesterday morning and was pleased with how it went, particularly at how much Maths was in it! She did say that she felt like most of the revision she did was 'pointless' though, as much of the paper was just 'common sense'.

I picked her up after the exam and along with DH and DD1 we went for a celebratory brunch. DDs then headed to the beach with their respective friend groups and DD2 arrived back at 11pm with sunburned feet!

DD2 slept until nearly midday today, which is virtually unheard of for her. Even at the weekend she's usually up by 8 as she "hates wasting the day". She definitely had lots of sleep to catch up on from the last couple of months, she has really pushed herself.

I slept ok for the first time in ages last night, I don't think I realised quite how much this 'double exam season' had been affecting me. Hey ho, at least when DD2 does her A Levels we won't have anyone doing GCSEs at the same time!

CakeFace1234 · 19/06/2025 13:21

Took DS to the cinema yesterday and for brunch today. He is so relieved it's all over. I am too. It's been a long 5 weeks. Really hope his friends want to meet up over the next 9 weeks. They all are happy staying in and gaming but DS would rather kick a ball around at the park, go to the gym or meet for lunch. It's going to cost me a small fortune otherwise.

waitingquietly · 19/06/2025 13:37

Hi all , well DS is on the PS5 as expected , I’ve managed to go for a run without feeling like I might be needed , cleared out the school uniform and hidden all the books in a wardrobe for now - there are a couple of subjects he might not pass so want to save the bonfire at the mo .

I’ve ordered an A level calculator off Amazon so hope I’ve not jinxed him - he’s going to need time to get used to it though as he doesn’t like change 🤞

So glad the 31 degree day is today though not earlier in the week

DS2 started mocks this morning so still feeling a bit on edge

Whoooo · 19/06/2025 14:04

Bit of retail therapy for dd and I today 💸

CatHairEveryWhereNow · 19/06/2025 14:39

The same.

I fell asleep on the sofa by 8 pm - coolest room in the house.

It's second time with both A-level and GCSE and thankfully the last - but I thought first time was more a fluke - DS needing so much support and DD1 struggling and worry there.

DD2 been out and been invited out again at the weekend and DS started a few projects of his own.

QueenMabby · 19/06/2025 14:44

@achangeofnameisasgoodasarest- poor dd. I hope she’s ok when you see her tomorrow. It’s such a stressful time that the tiniest thing can tip them over the edge.

dd is having a bit of a grotty day. As if they’ve been holding off until the first day post-exams, her hayfever is absolutely shocking and she has the period from hell. She’s adamant about baking though and is interspersing that with sofa time. She looks like she’s been run over by a bus!
