Thanks for sharing this! DD wants to go to Wagamamas on results day but not on list – just checked their website though and they are also doing a results day offer. Excellent!

The current school won't pass anything over until he's enrolled at the new place. They can't because it's his personal data.

When we enroll students, we ask them about SEN/EAA/anything else they think we need to know.

Yes I just meant during interviews etc, often school send a form to HOY11 or similar asking for info like work ethic and anything key issues or extenuating circumstances just to decide for a conditional offer. It wouldn't be much info at all or very detailed. The real files will be sent in September.

However I do recommend @Sisublondie to chase them up after enrolment and ask his current school if they did have to do any form or references (as they might not have and thus no info even little things would have been passed on). Give them a few days in September though as it will be going through processes.

Sisublondie · 12/08/2025 10:01

@Whoooo… noooo as to scaffolders at 7am! ( I swear they throw poles more loudly at that time!).. I share your pain… DS woke me up at 5am as he couldn’t sleep ( despite having a fab fan 😼), so wanted us to make pancakes and he wanted to show me some funny reels … so, fine, I thought, then I’ll pop back to bed for a little bit as not in work today… but, nope! .. the

CapybaraCafeOrNot · 12/08/2025 10:19

@MrsHamlet so will current school ask DC's permission before sending anything to new external 6th form?

I don't think new 6th form asked about SEN before or since making the offer.

MrsHamlet · 12/08/2025 10:22

@CapybaraCafeOrNot when his UPN transfers to the new centre, then data will go over.

50% of our y12 will be new to us, which is why we will ask for info about SEN, EAA and welfare needs from the student when we interview them. That way, we know what we need to know asap. We've already asked for this data once from them, so it's belt and braces.

Different centres will do things differently though.

They don't ask permission they do it in September after enrolment especially for SEN, safeguarding and wellbeing issues the files have to be sent within 5 days I think is the DfE deadline of school starting. They keep the files until the school says they've received them, and then they'll be archived by the old school. It's their duty to inform the new college or school

Sisublondie · 12/08/2025 10:29

@Whoooo cont…sorry, lost WiFi! .. anyway, the long awaited electrician arrived at 8am and is currently replacing my bedroom lights… 😹.. I hope the scaffolders have finished and won’t be back tomorrow.

I’m so sorry that you’re going through the planning of DH’s Uncle’s funeral. That’s so difficult at any time, but with additional DD worries, it must be particularly hard. It must also trigger what you went through with your lovely Dad. I do know what you mean… my Dad died 21 years ago and my Mum really didn’t know what to do admin or red tape wise… All my family is in Wales, except mum and me, my sister came from abroad and pretty much said she “couldn’t deal” so stayed in the kitchen, so I had to do what you are unfortunately doing now, I guess. The registering of his death, dealing with the undertakers etc..How lovely that you are trying to adhere to his wishes, too. That is so caring and thoughtful. I wish you the best of luck, I hope it all goes as well as it can.. 🤗…

Ooooh.. first holiday abroad! Exciting… yet, nerve wracking!! It’s so good older DD knows you are only at the end of a phone if needed…. Hopefully that knowledge means she can 🧘 breathe.., and relax and chill and have a fabulous time!!!

Well, it’s forecast 28 here… it’s dull, overcast and muggy.. ugh! 😩 . I hope you manage to get some respite from the heat!… and some chilling relax time, yourself 🤞!! ( and earplugs?! )… 😸

@NotDonna thanks his spring report was glowing and there was an expectation he should do well if he continued like that. DS wants to do Maths, Physics and DT so two there I expect won't be under prescribed.

would be gutting if he was one point off and didn't get in though.

everything crossed.

Sisublondie · 12/08/2025 11:26

@MrsHamlet, @TheLivelyViper, wow, ok, brilliant!
I had no idea of this process that took place, or of their requirement to go so. It is really reassuring. I will have a chat with school contact as I’m seeing then at the weekend, ( not SEN but knows DS personally), and again in the day. I think it will then be a case of going straight to the ( hopefully) new place for enrolment ( or advice), so I’ll n e sure to mention it then.., but, hopefully, as you say, it should be fine seamlessly in September once enrolment has taken place.

Cheers, very much appreciated! 🙏💕

@Sisublondie
Yes, it all fell on to me too, then 😔
If I forget, MASSIVE good luck vibes to your ds for Thursday 🍀

CapybaraCafeOrNot · 12/08/2025 14:24

@TheLivelyViper@MrsHamletthank you, we'd like a copy of what the old school sends to the new, which staff member should DD request this from?

MrsHamlet · 12/08/2025 14:26

@CapybaraCafeOrNot in my school it would be done by the data manager - it would be whatever is linked to the UPN

ChannelLightVessel · 12/08/2025 16:00

Just popping in to wish everyone good luck for A level results on Thursday 🍀🐈‍⬛
DD is still in the US; I’m really missing her. XH is in the final stages of breaking up with his partner, and is quite irritable unfortunately.

You need to do an SAR request, do it in September ask for the whole school file, safeguarding, pastoral notes and email correspondence or referral paperwork copies and they'll send it all over. They have around 28 days to reply - it might have to be DS though as it's his data, and he'll be 16 but I'm not 100% sure on that, you may also eb able to do it. I've done with school before, years ago and I had to prove my ID (I was 16/17 at the time) - they then sent me the file after a few weeks. Sometimes they are busy and take a while to responsed especially in September. But before this on results day ask the HOY11 or someone in SLT, if they'd just send it to you anyways and then it's less hassle. They will send it all to the new school as well, so you don't have to but I would ask about any plans and management from new school around it and also the CAHMS referral ask them to continue chasing it and make sure they are aware.

Whoooo · 12/08/2025 22:42

Dd has had some pre enrolment stuff come through this evening 😬
It's all getting a bit real 😬
She seems ok...Meeting a friend tomorrow.
I cannot deal with this heat...32 here tomorrow. I could cry 😢

NotDonna · 13/08/2025 00:10

Interesting regarding transfer of school data. DD had an interview with new school back in April and as I was concerned re SEND provision contacted new school - they asked for DDs form 9 (or could be form 8). SEND lady at current school requested DDs permission and as far as I’m aware has sent this form over - re her ADHD and access arrangements. The new school had already requested predicted grades and a report from current school (apparently). I’m now wondering if any of this has actually happened. It’s a state school.

waitingquietly · 13/08/2025 08:13

@Whoooo you are not on your own with the heat -32 here yesterday and sleeping impossibly hard .It looks like it’s going to stay high 20s here right through till results day

GrumpyMuleFan · 13/08/2025 08:16

Can I join you all for a handhold? Nerves are really starting to kick in, and that's just me. We are now on second day of house move on 21/08, which is not ideal. My DD is not v academic but is a hard worker. She has so much riding on this and won't be around friends on the day. I need to get an A and B plan ready - would love to hear about the B plans...

I am very very unhappy 😮‍💨

achangeofnameisasgoodasarest · 13/08/2025 08:41

Thinking of everyone. So glad I've shipped DD2 off for a bit so at least I only have the A-Levellers to think about. She's sent me a picture of her posing in an army hat during the changing of the guard so clearly it's all going swimmingly.

Trying very hard not to think about it. Not really succeeding.

CapybaraCafeOrNot · 13/08/2025 08:48

@NotDonnaDD had an interview and offer at another 6th form. She sent over mock results and school sent a reference. An online form asked about health but not explicitly extra time/SEN so I've told DD to send email her form 8 in to the SENDCO in September if it's not requested before then.

@mrshamlet@TheLivelyViperDD wants to make a new start and so hasn't disclosed a health condition as it is now managed and shouldn't affect her school work...I hope the existing school doesn't send details over.
