I feel like today has been my first chance to stop running around like a headless chicken since the exams finished.
Our end of exams/birthday party went well, but it was a really hot and ridiculously humid day, which made managing the food more tricky and labour intensive.
Since then we have been catching up on medical and dental appointments and dd had the taster day at her school sixth form followed by prom and the after party at our house.
She really enjoyed the taster day, but got really upset when she arrived home, as she’s convinced she won’t get the maths grade she needs. She spoke to the head of sixth form on the day and they said, if she gets a 4 and there is space in her classes they will waitlist her, but no guarantees she will get in. Ultimately the taster day convinced her she wants to do A Levels, rather than Drama (which is what she has accepted as her reserve college) so she has put in a late application to another local sixth form, that only wants a 4 in maths and has been waitlisted for a late interview there.
Dd looked beautiful for her prom, but doesn’t want me to post her photo. Dh and I had to stand for over an hour waiting for her car to get to the front of the queue for the red carpet walk and photos, which wasn’t great, as by then I was in a lot of pain and really struggled to put together the after party before they came home.
They arrived back at 11.30, changed into their comfy clothes and vegged out playing MarioKart. I laid on drinks, treats, an ice-cream bar and added some crudite, melon and strawberries for good measure. Amazingly all of the healthy food was eaten! Apparently they were all desperate for something fresh after the ‘beige food’ buffet they were served at the prom. Last girl left at 1.45 am and dd’s best friend slept over, as they both had to be at school for 8.30 next morning for production rehearsals.
Actually dd has been back in school full-time all week, including all weekend, rehearsing for production and has another full week of rehearsals to go. She is exhausted and loosing her voice, which isn’t ideal, but thankfully still having fun.
