3 sides MAX! 😂

She doesn't do AQA, she does Eduquas so the questions are totally different to the structure I was showing her. I was just confusing her, more of a hindrance than a help.

@Sisublondie my pleasure. I know this one like the back of my hand!

I wish my job could help people like this!🤩 You are currently reminding me of my friends always asking my mum stuff when pregnant, as she is a midwife! You’re in demand! I’m sure we are all very grateful..💖

VivaDixie · 05/06/2025 21:24

Thank you @MrsHamlet I also gave him your earlier advice re Q5 - that you want quality over quantity.

I will pass on those other tips too 👍

It's literally what I'm paid to do :) and I love my job.

Yes please. Less is very much more!

:)

@VivaDixie… just having a doubting myself mo! You’re on AQA too, right?? 🙄…. ( hope FIFA going ok! I have similar going on.. tho, it did make me smile as DS did roll his eyes as I didn’t squish down flat enough the M&S “bake yourself salted caramel cookies”🍪 I got on the way home… oh, to be back to the days when that was just the norm, not a “ Oh, Thank God, he didn’t snap my head off”! 😻

Music to DS' ears 🤣

It's great actually as he has really beautiful vocabulary, but can't write a lot of it. I have told him to do Q5 first and give it his best shot

Yes we are AQA - at ease 🤣

DS is in really good spirits at the mo weirdly - I think he sees the light at the end of the tunnel. After tomorrow the heavy subjects are over so he is now watching squid game with DH

No one wants to read screeds and screeds. And the mark scheme doesn't specify screeds... "sustained" does not mean waffle on for pages.

Crafted is the key.

My year 11 are pretty well trained - they know I have a low tolerance for waffling on.

On this point, @MrsHamlet… you said after English Lit Paper 1 ( I’m not sure!!) in response to a pp ( sorry! Can’t remember who!) who was concerned her DS got stanza and paragraph confused ( I think!).. the excellent “ marks can only be awarded and not deducted”……but I’m pretty sure that was for Eng Lit. I do fear my DS may have a problem with keeping to max pages ( I really don’t know, he really won’t talk about what he does/doesn’t write, and def too scared to raise it tonight)… how does this affect the Eng Language paper marking?🤷‍♀️🙄

MrsHamlet · 05/06/2025 21:38

@Sisublondie marks start at zero and work up. Right now, everyone has zero. The challenge is to move that to 80 tomorrow.

The trouble with really long responses is that they can lose crafting.

Phew!!! It reminded me of when the history chat started on here…. “ OH! My! God!!! Vietnam!! I’m hearing NOTHING about Vietnam!! Why not?!?!! “…….. “ Because I’m not doing history!!!!”… That’ll be why, then! 😹… doubting my own name!

Oooooh! I’d love a bit of “ Red Light” 🚦 right now!!! 🤩…
when is your last one again? We have science 🧬 hell next week.. last physics on the 16th.. I think you’re the same, no?? Or, 18th it’s a blur!

That is very good to know!

I am still slightly traumatised by my Y9 Geography exam where I wrote pages and pages and ended up with minus 22%!

(I did not choose it for GCSE).

I'd like to think that their teachers have taught them this stuff!

How the heck do you get -22%? That's an impressive achievement.

I am honestly not quite sure how I managed (it was a super-selective grammar so I wasn't generally educationally challenged), but I still have the paper as a now historic memento!

He has Spanish writing on 17th then he is done. It's a nice one for him to end on as he is confident with that (foundation level)

Those who are done next week @CatHairEveryWhereNow are they not doing physics then? I thought pretty much everyone would have that (double or triple, makes no difference) so would at least have exams till the 16th I think? I know Spanish writing is the next day sorry Spanish-ers!

Minus 22%!! Excellent!! That’s so funny! Scary to know it’s a thing!

I wish I’d got a copy of the “Fries” exam I had to do at McDonalds in my summer job at Uni. I got a special 🌟 as apparently no one had achieved 100 💯 before !!😹😹😹😹!! ( I’m still fussy about their 🍟 now!😈
