New thread to help us get through the next week or so!

@kary42we are eduquas too! Think a minority. And it’s 15 mins longer.
let’s see how it goes…

MrsHamlet · 05/06/2025 22:06

Someone will ask me tomorrow - in a flap - "what will happen if I can't answer any questions?"

And I will say (as they know I will) "you'll fail"

And then I'll say "but that's not likely to happen"

I am as sure as sure can be that no one will get minus marks though 😂

Thanks for the giggle @OhCrumbsWhereNow - I needed that tonight!

CatHairEveryWhereNow · 05/06/2025 23:36

clary · 05/06/2025 21:55

Those who are done next week @CatHairEveryWhereNow are they not doing physics then? I thought pretty much everyone would have that (double or triple, makes no difference) so would at least have exams till the 16th I think? I know Spanish writing is the next day sorry Spanish-ers!

We're WJEC - wales - so she sat half the GCSE science papers last year.

There are a few re-taking for various reasons and they have papers coming up - but she was doing triple and the science exams she had this year were all before half term - so done and dusted.

It's just English and maths - for most now of Y11 left now. Maths is next week.

DD2 is a later finisher she has additional maths one 2 hour paper and DT - textiles - in week after. DT is one of the last subjects to be sat - she thought it was the last but tourism is - not really on our radar.

I'm not sure about sitting exams in Y10 or early in Y11 as all my kids are really young in school year - DD1 really late Aug - but this time of year do think it's the only way you'd get though the shear number they sit - though TBH I do think 12 GCSE is a bit OTT. Same with AS levels sat in Y12 40% of A-levels - I have very mixed views on that - can see pros and cons.

NotDonna · 06/06/2025 00:32

DD’s friend had her last exam today (history), she’s sitting 9, including double science so only sat the paper ones. German was completed early. So she’s done! She did start a week prior to DD though. DD only has 4 days left though - 5 exams but only four days!

SB1971 · 06/06/2025 06:06

No more English after today-that feels mad to say when it has been such a constant since primary school.

Good luck to all!

Eduqas for English here as well

QueenMabby · 06/06/2025 06:44

Good luck to everyone sitting English today. And Geography??

Dd has 8 exams left, 5 of which are next week. She does Further maths so finishes on the 18th.

frozendaisy · 06/06/2025 06:45

He still has 10 (including today) to go
8 after today so going into DoSomeSpanishRevisionChild weekend with single figures, which is a stepping stone in the right direction

I’m echoing that! Thanks, also, @MrsHamletfor starting my day with a smile!! 🤩🤩🤩… and, of course, GOOD LUCK TO YOU, TODAY!! 🤞!! I hope it goes swimmingly! 😻

The special star for Fries is one to frame on the wall for definite!

😹😹😹😹!! … along with my old name badge! ( yup, I have that!! 🍟 🍟 🍟!!)…. Have a good luck day! 🤞🍀

Sisublondie · 06/06/2025 06:50

Good Luck to all the English Language and Geography crew!! And, of course, all others!! 🤞🙏 🍀…….
……it’s a pseudo weekend, tomorrow and we are still on Last Day Countdown, so, it’s all good!!!!🤩🤩🤩

TeenToTwenties · 06/06/2025 07:22

Good luck to everyone worrying about English Language passing today.

I remember I used to get negative marks for French dictation. We started with 30 or 50 or something, and lost 1 mark for every spelling and 0.5 for every accent of something like that!

CoffeeChocolateWine · 06/06/2025 07:30

Good luck to everyone today! My son is looking forward to getting this one out of the way 🍀🤞

OhCrumbsWhereNow · 06/06/2025 07:36

Good luck everyone today - especially the English/Geog combo.

And especially those who - for the first time in 5 years - slept through 5 alarms, missed their trains and are now being driven over an hour to school… 🙈

VivaDixie · 06/06/2025 07:42

@OhCrumbsWhereNow quite literally your username is apt today 🙆‍♀️ hope you get there on time!

Just gave DS @ExamStuff tips about Q2 - he was v grateful, He was happier that I got this advice from you rather than his English teacher 🤣
Seriously though I wish she were more like you, you seem to have the students well versed on how to answer a question. His teacher's notes are so content heavy with tiny writing and make little sense, many kids won't use it and would flounder. Thank goodness for Mumsnet and my own research (such as the link I posted last night)

Good luck everyone today

HereComesYourMam · 06/06/2025 07:44

Yes good luck to everyone today!

DS has his only double exam day today. I just yelled 'remember quality not quantity' as he was disappearing out the door. He has refused all English lang revision except (reluctantly) watching a walk-through video so we'll have to see how it goes.

Oh, 💩!!! Good Luck on getting there… DEEP BREATHS!! ( it’s probably a lucky 🍀 sign in some culture, somewhere! Has to be! 😻)….. Drive safely… x

PrincessOfPreschool · 06/06/2025 08:04

Good luck to all today! Eng lang and Geog for DS1.

chalkyc2 · 06/06/2025 08:17

Geography today here for DS too. He’s starting to see friends finish and is peeved he’s in for the long haul with a bumper finale of further maths and DT on the 18th! Is the 18th the last possible day?
