Tiffin boys- Wait list

Hi all

DS is 10th on the list with the same score as last allocated place on offer day. We have independent offers but I feel 10th is worth waiting for.

Sharing here as I imagine others would be in similar positions and would appreciate past years experiences please

Agree that the waitlist has moved much faster than previous years, which is good from students/parents perspective.

Who emails the offer is it the school or the council?

Sorry just seen the above. The anxiety is getting to me.
At least from the council may not be the two weeks lull over easter

Mine was an email from Tiffin school, I don't live in Kingston. They provided a link to the school website with log in details where they asked to accept or decline the offer.

Just got the offer today (WL30) !

Also do you know (by any chance) anyone after WL who received the confirmation mail ?

Both. Received an email from the council first and then from the school the next day.

We are 5th on waiting list now and 42nd on offer day! Fingers crossed:)

My son has a place but desperate to know whether his friends will be going too!

@loislane73- would love to hear more about your son’s experience. How has he found the homework level? Was it easy to find other boys who live near to you? How has your son found the teachers?

Yes he’s really happy, in y9 now, the homework was quite tough in y7 but I expect it depends what your backgrounds are, we came
from a small state primary with hardly any so it was a step up. But I think they go hard in y7 in order to relax it later on. The teaching is excellent, but the standard is definitely high compared with state secondary but you know that already! It has a great community feel about it, he
has made excellent friends. And theres a huge amount of extra curricular on offer particularly in sports and
drama so it’s good to get involved if he can.

We are also looking for the same information.
Does the school publish the updated waiting list at any point?

No I am sorry but just got it and we were last told he is 5th on the list on the 28th April if that helpa

Are they re-marking papers? A friend on the waiting list told us that a bunch of papers are being re-checked - anyone know any details? How many people affected?

Wow really? That’s quite the admission to be making at this stage if their marking was wrong! Did they give any reason as to why they’re remarking?
