Tiffin boys- Wait list

Hi all

DS is 10th on the list with the same score as last allocated place on offer day. We have independent offers but I feel 10th is worth waiting for.

Sharing here as I imagine others would be in similar positions and would appreciate past years experiences please

Wilson sends letters to kids that have put it on lower preference, knowing that going on their waiting list means they would be allocated a place pretty much straight away. This would be the same with Tiffin, you might be at the start of the waiting list at Tiffin and get a place, just need to ask. Good luck!

It also depends on where you live/plan to live. Travelling time matters.

Hi Parents, is there a way we can track the movement in W/L ? My son has got 97 marks and is 63 on W/L. Wondering if we have any hope ?

What was the cut-off score? I think looking at previous years might help if there’s nothing else on the 11 plus forum for this year? 63 seems a bit unlikely in terms of movement, but not impossible!

If you follow the thread back a bit, you will see that TopCat24's DS* *had an original score of 103, which the school, having earlier sent a completely un-called for (in the realm of the national admissions scheme) belatedly downgraded tto 101. Because, from the original formula for calculating scores, the age standardisation bit had somehow been omitted.

As TopCat24 was the last person to post that a place had been offered, it can be said that at that point, the cut-off score was 101, but whether there were subsequent offers, it is impossible to tell from there.

This year I think the cut off is 100.

We were on waiting list 28, mark 99, just received Tiffin Offer now via email.

We were #29 on the waiting list and got an offer yesterday afternoon too. So @SiuMi you must be number one now! In previous years, it seems we would only have received an offer in late-August or even into the next school year, so I’m very surprised by the speed that the waiting list seems to have moved already 🤔

@AXYZI think they do a revised waiting list after the cluster of offers they give at the end of March which presumably @SiuMi will be #1 on, and it is the newer version of the waiting list that may go down into the 20s/30s by September. I could be wrong though!

@Sunnyside12 and @jamielove Yes, we had an offer on Friday but we declined as we think DS really wants to go to an independent school. Good luck everyone!

I am tempted to call them but their email said - "Please do not telephone Tiffin School to ask where your son is on the Waiting List."

@SiuMi it is from council, and can only come from council, as the council is the one coordinating/managing the allocation of all state schools…

Mine came from the council - I’ve had zero communication from the school. We had seven days to accept/decline, so it’s only a matter of time before you get the email - for sure some of the people further up the waiting list who have been offered will decline!
