Has anyone had an offer letter today? Our postman has been so we won’t hear until Monday at the earliest now. I’m wondering if they send offer/rejection letters at same time. Good luck to everyone applying.

Are offers due today?! I assumed they wouldn’t be for another week.

ThatKindOpalSwan · 25/01/2025 13:49

I thought it was the second Saturday after the assessment but I could be completely wrong on that!

meuntilmarch2025 · 31/01/2025 16:49

Results are out :) Good luck everyone

SouthLondonM · 31/01/2025 17:39

Couldn’t concentrate on work the whole day 😅. They sent the emails at 16.56 😅

Lookingtomoveperhaps · 31/01/2025 17:58

What are these results for? 4+, 7+, 11+, or all three?

SouthLondonM · 31/01/2025 18:12

11+, don’t know the other years

Secondaryspectator · 31/01/2025 20:15

I read there are 60-75 seats on offer and I thought around 300 kids attended?

Lookingtomoveperhaps · 31/01/2025 20:50

Did anyone here receive good news?

ForRosieJosie · 31/01/2025 21:08

Get a NO, DD is so disappointed. Thought might have a YES, as she got three academic scholarships and she was very well prepared for GHS.

ThatKindOpalSwan · 01/02/2025 09:10

We got a yes.

Sorry to hear that ForRosieJosie. Absolutely incredible that your daughter received 3 academic scholarships to schools though - that’s truly an amazing accomplishment and she should be so proud of herself.

Thank you , yes we are very proud of her and her achievements. Just wondering if GHs has a travel concerns caus we base in east Surrey almost 1.5 hrs drive away.

NoMoreExam · 01/02/2025 12:25

I was wondering if there are any parents whose daughters are on the waitlist. We received an email from GHS saying:

“she performed very well and we feel she would thrive here. We are however, limited on the number of places we can offer and at the moment we are only able to offer her a place on our waiting list for Year 7 commencing September 2025.”

DH and I are shocked that DD didn’t receive an offer—she’s quite bright. What’s even more surprising is the wording of the email:

“she performed very well and we feel she would thrive here. …” If she did very well how come DD didn’t get an offer? Are we the only ones confused? 🫤 we feel that GHS is saying DD did well but we decided not to accept her.

Is anyone else on the waitlist, and did you receive a similar or different email? Does anyone know if the waitlist ever moves, or is it just a safety net for GHS? Many thanks 😊

tennissquare · 01/02/2025 13:21

@ForRosieJosie , I've known GHS to take distance into account for the 7plus but I don't know about the 11plus. Is the journey by train 1 hour max?
Are your scholarship offers from schools like Sutton High and Woldingham? Did your dd sit for Surbiton High? It gives you an idea of where she sits amongst the cohort taking exams for Sept 25 entry.

Lookingtomoveperhaps · 01/02/2025 13:48

@tennissquare Do they really take distance into account? I’m hoping to register my DD for 4+ but we currently live a little under 30 mins away by car. We would move closer, possibly to Guildford itself, if she got a place. I wouldn’t want to relocate before in case she doesn’t. Do you think they would reject on distance alone, before asking the parents how their DD would commute to school? I’d be surprised if that were the case, especially if they accepted the registration fee beforehand.

SouthLondonM · 01/02/2025 13:49

I am pretty sure distance wasn’t a consideration we are in SE London and we got an offer. Super pleased with it, obviously we will move :)

tennissquare · 01/02/2025 13:53

@Lookingtomoveperhaps - 30 mins is fine.
A while ago for 7plus (when they only have a handful of spaces) they rejected dd who lived in Middlesex (TW postcode) but had reached the academic level to gain a place. In other words they don't want to hand out places if they know they will be rejected by the parents. 4 plus and 11 plus are different because the volume of places in larger but it's always worth adding a note to the registration form that you are planning to move house.

Lookingtomoveperhaps · 01/02/2025 14:02

@tennissquare I see. I haven’t yet registered but if there is space to make such a declaration I will. Thanks for the tip 🙂
