Hi all

It doesn’t look as though one of these threads has been set up yet so I thought I’d do it.

I have a daughter going into year 6 and a son going into year 8 next month - both will be moving to senior school in 2025.

Congratulations for everyone today.

It’s been long old week. After the offer Monday it seems to have dragged and the 14th seems so far away still.

just hope the consortium offers are not very late in the day like the one on Monday!

Twinklestoes198 · 10/02/2025 13:02

Hope everyone is holding up ok with Friday the 14th coming up soon. Quick one, do all schools have offer holding days? Assume that’s only for yes offers and not wait listed? Is this normally week after half term? Thank you

venice24 · 10/02/2025 13:37

Yes, just for offer holders. Typically if you get in from the waiting list, they give you very little time and no opportunity to see the school again.

I don’t think Alleyn’s do, as they had their taster day ahead of applications. Could be wrong though..!

Twinklestoes198 · 10/02/2025 13:49

Thank you! Thought it might only be for offer holders which makes things tricky if you are waitlisted to get another feel of the school in different light. Saw Emanuel mentioned dates if there is an offer in their email that was sent after the interviews but didn’t see anything mentioned in other schools emails but just will hear on the 14th.

@TidyLion oh yes I remember the taster day! Thought that was more a fun way to see the school and chose a sport to participate in and subject. Was hoping for another look around again.

good luck everyone with the wait! Hopefully the emails land early on the 14th!

SamPoodle123 · 10/02/2025 14:06

@Twinklestoes198 I think most schools offer them. With my eldest, they offered them. I remember asking her first-choice school straight away if they would have an offer holder event and they said they would be sending information on that shortly.

I read on here that Dulwich does not do offer holder days but will let you have a look around again if you get an offer. My dh has never seen the school because he was away during the interview opportunity....so I would def request if we could see the school if we did get an offer.

Not every school does it. We just got an offer from MCS which doesn't offer it. Unfortunately we missed the open day so never got a chance to see the school yet...

Twinklestoes198 · 10/02/2025 17:14

@SamPoodle123 and @igigig thanks for feedback. Hopefully the schools will have the option to view again if asked. Being hopeful!

@AnnieH01 brilliant news. Hopefully this is the case again this year! Friday can’t come fast enough

Heidi245 · 10/02/2025 19:28

Good luck everyone with the waiting and results themselves as they come in.

Please do continue to post here as the emails from different schools come in over the course of the week so we can at least give each other the head’s up to keep refreshing inboxes as news is imminent!

Yes, counting !!
I was lucky my friends took me to west end to see a play. So, time passed quickly tonight.

CruCru · 11/02/2025 08:26

I’m going away for half term and need to pack but am a bit too jittery. Perhaps I’ll start with some laundry.

Somewhere sunny or snowy for half term? I wish I was leaving somewhere sunny!

I thought you had some insights into when open holder events tend to take place, hahaha. Hopefully they will give us this info on Friday, I am avoiding accepting a few work meetings until then...

11PlusCraziness · 11/02/2025 10:00

For those awaiting results, just a heads up for Friday - not all good news from the same school filters through at the same time. Last year, when we were waiting for results, loads of people on here had offers from our top choice school. We'd heard nothing and I assumed that the rejections were being sent out later and that DD wasn't getting an offer. Our offer email came through about an hour later. When I spoke to Admissions about it afterwards, they said they send them all at the same time (at that particular school) but that the server gets overloaded and so some get delayed. I know at another school, they sent the straight offers first, then those with scholarships and bursaries in later batches as they had different attachments.

Moral of the story: don't assume that if others have heard and you haven't, it's going to be bad news. That's not always the case.

Good luck. The wait it nearly over!

This week is going to drag….

Out of interest how many schools have people applied for?

We have done 5 (but 3 exams) and our prep recommended 3-5 schools (and no more than 5 exams max).

However, we have heard on the grapevine that some kids at our prep applied for 8-10 which seems insane (even if you get a one and done for a lot with the girls consortium).

CruCru · 11/02/2025 11:19

My daughter did six schools but five are in the Consortium.

We applied for 5, had 5 exams and interviews. In an ideal scenario we would have only apply to our top 3 but I really didn't know how it was going to go..

We applied to 6, w 5 exams. Ds checked out after the third exam I think, as they were all so close together!

seniorschoolchoices · 11/02/2025 11:31

We applied for 6 but only 4 exams! Good luck to everyone for Friday!

Twinklestoes198 · 11/02/2025 11:31

Ds applied to 4 schools. 2 schools straight after each other. Some kids I know applied to only 1 and others did 6!

Lana1985 · 11/02/2025 11:48

We applied to 6 and got 5 interviews. 3 say explicitly they will send offers on the 14th and two "by mid February". Hours and days seem to be expanding...
