Hi all

It doesn’t look as though one of these threads has been set up yet so I thought I’d do it.

I have a daughter going into year 6 and a son going into year 8 next month - both will be moving to senior school in 2025.

The headmistress at one of the schools said they do all sit in a room and go through each candidate from A to Z. Then they go away. When they come back they do it again, from Z to A.

About 3/4 already should be a firm yes or no. I think the discussion and consideration will just be with the 25%. We wont be able to decide until State results though to put all options in consideration. My daughter has completely forgotten about exams and results(she doesnt know when) and just really is looking forward to our holiday next week.

Yes, this makes sense, as the ones that get top marks and do well in interview should be an easy yes. The borderline candidates I can see needing more discussion, closer look at references. Nice that the dc seem to forget fast. My ds is the same. Me on the other hand...counting the days until we find out 😅

DD too. Much more interested in half term activities and the upcoming school disco! Thank goodness.

In practice, instead of ranking individual candidates which is relatively straightforward, admission officers are focused on balancing the number of offers with the actual places available (the cutoff). Most private schools aim to minimize their waiting lists.

They consider historical acceptance data and trends, such as the number of students from specific prep or state schools who accept offers, to estimate the total number of offers to make. The main uncertainty is the impact of VAT. The usual question is whether to offer twice or three times the number of available places.

Best of luck to those waiting for news today!

Twinklestoes198 · 07/02/2025 09:30

Good luck to everyone waiting on news!

TwoInARow2020 · 07/02/2025 10:20

Such a long wait! What schools come out today?

555Stars · 07/02/2025 10:27

Good luck to everyone… I’m sure it’ll be nice to have an answer either way! This limbo is horrible-but still nothing compared to what our lil ones went through!

We got our back up offer on Wednesday from Wetherby Pembridge. The rest of our results come through next Friday 😬

I only know of Harrodian. I am not sure about any others coming out today?

11plus2nd · 07/02/2025 10:42

Do all schools results are via both email and post these days? We are away next week so really need it via email.

Thankfully, they all email and some schools do post and email! I have not heard of any schools that do only post still.

Good luck to all who are expecting an email today. Still a week to go for us.

A bit out of London but Epsom college is today too

Sass22 · 07/02/2025 12:59

Wishing everyone the best of luck.

CruCru · 07/02/2025 13:57

I’m wondering if this week will go fast or slow.

Feels like it will go slow to me lol. Still waiting on Harrodian....was hoping it would be sent by lunch!

springrobin · 07/02/2025 14:21

LEH offers have come through at midday today if anyone is waiting for that!

I have planned all the unnecessary 1-2-1 meetings which will keep me out from office and my phone 😂 both for this week and next week. I think it worked for this week. We mostly wish the best for our kids, but sometimes the best is not the top academic. I wish him a school which will keep him happy, motivated and will bring good friends.

mutbee · 07/02/2025 15:06

Congratulations to those with offers today! Great that some schools send them earlier than the 14th!

CruCru · 07/02/2025 17:23

It’s so annoying. I had suggested to my husband that we go for lunch on 14 Feb so we don’t just sit staring at our phones all day but it’s bloody Valentine’s Day. So phone staring it will have to be.
