London grammar and private senior school entry 2025

Hi all

It doesn’t look as though one of these threads has been set up yet so I thought I’d do it.

I have a daughter going into year 6 and a son going into year 8 next month - both will be moving to senior school in 2025.

Alleyns previous coms said academic scholarship invites will be sent after taking into account the group activity / interview on Saturday (unless we have not all received same instructions?!). Suspect they will be out tmrw. Good luck to all DC.

Last interview this morning, relieved to be done finally! Good luck everyone getting through the wait and hoping for lots of positive messages here on 14th February or whenever results arrive for people 🙏

Oh crumbs! I had no idea there were interviews on a Sunday - I hope it went well.

I'm feeling the wait now. It sounds ridiculous but I have been checking out the uniform of all the schools we are waiting to hear back from (not that the uniform is all that important!).

Haha...I might have to start doing that lol. At least we are almost at the end....even though it feels like forever.

Do you have a preference in schools? Remind me which ones you are waiting to hear from.

We don't have a favourite. Waiting to hear back from Latymer, Emanuel, DC and Harrodian.

Waiting to hear back from Channing, South Hampstead, FHSS, FHRP and QCL. I think we are going to decide which are our favourites once my daughter has heard whether or not they are going to make her an offer. A friend's daughter (a few years ago now) had her heart absolutely set on one school and then was devastated when she didn't get it - even though she had three firm offers from other schools.

Yes, that is why we try to remain neutral as well....you just never know what will happen.

Any heard from Alleyns on the academic scholarship invite?

No but we did get an email saying thank you for coming to the interviews on Saturday and saying that if we were to come back for departmental scholarships, we would have heard already. Not sure if that includes academic scholarships…

Hi, any thoughts on schools requesting references at the end. On top of report, exams and interviews. This process makes me nervous all the time. Can't wait for decisions to be made! Trying to keep busy.

Hmm. I just told our school which senior schools we have applied to and they sent the references directly (I expect in response to requests from those schools). Or at least I hope they did. We never got involved.

You could ask your school to make sure they sent references to where it is needed.

It’s pretty standard for them to ask for the reference - some have asked for it at start of process, some before interviews and some at end. Our prep school was similar to CruCru and sent them all off before even the exams. Interestingly only one of our schools asked for an actual school report.

@Lana1985 i assume Alleyn’s must have sent out the invites for the workshop on Friday already as email did suggest would have heard from them if due to return.

Yes Departemental scholarships were sent last week or previous Friday (Drama, sport, music) but questionning around the academic scholarship being potentially post second round interviews of Saturday? Anyone please?

@Hermionegranger2014 I assumed from the email this morning it included the academic ones too. Would love some clarity of this aswell!

Wondering if you get invited back for music, art, sport scholarship etc at a school are your chances higher for getting an offer compared to kids who didn’t go for scholarships or make it to the second round? All such a mind field and any school will be lucky to have amazing kids and all the kids have done brilliantly so far!

We’ve not received a note saying it’s tomorrow so guessing DD not made the cut. She’s wasn’t expecting to having found one of the maths Qs tricky. As I said somewhere else I suspect there may be some 100%ers!
