London grammar and private senior school entry 2025

Hi all

It doesn’t look as though one of these threads has been set up yet so I thought I’d do it.

I have a daughter going into year 6 and a son going into year 8 next month - both will be moving to senior school in 2025.

Still nothing here although may have gone to DH

Did anyone hear about scholarships in the 11+ emails?

Its all very confidential and case by case basis these days so I wont be able to disclose but yes, there was academic and music scholarship granted from 10+ and recent music auditions with KGS. Private schools are going through a very tough time these days balancing between their book vs attracting best performance for the year cohort.

No Emanuel drama scholarship news year for us yet. Hoping it will come soon, especially if the assessment is on Tuesday!

Not necessarily. When the Latymer emails came out, the ones that did not hear at first were worried about bad news (including me) and people still got yes's hours later....so you never know.

Yea, I was wondering if they let you know if you don't proceed to next stage as well? As no mention of anything in interview email.

it was bad news... son is devastated as he's been dreaming of going to Emanuel since he was younger

I wonder what are his chances of getting a yes to Alleyn's.. His Creative writing is really strong and the English test there was only writing

should I think since he didn't pass Emanuel's then no chance for Alleyn's?

Bad news for us too! I can not bare to tell my DD. Hopefully everything happens for a reason and the right school is out there for all of our DC. Sorry for the bad news too @W4mumoftwo

@mammacatcat @Sass22 I am sorry to hear that. You never know with schools. Emanuel is a tricky one to predict. I know of two girls that did not get into Emanuel, but got into G&L. I also know of a boy that did not make it to interview stage at Emanuel, but got into Kings and is thriving there. I have heard things like this have happened a few times. Crossing fingers for your other options.

Also, if he has strong CW and the English exam was just CW, that is a positive. How is his Math?

My ds was in that position last year. No interview from Emanuel. Got alleyns offer. Fits that profile, Alleyns exam suited him better.

I definitely wouldn’t assume that if he’s not got into Emanuel, @mammacatcat, he won’t have passed the Alleyn’s exam. You hear of lots of children passing one and not the other. My DS is a maths whizz but one thing he just can’t get his head around came up on the Alleyn’s paper which wasn’t on the Emanuel one, so he’s not confident that he will get Alleyn’s too. Could easily have been the other way around for your DS. Fingers crossed!

I am sorry, it's so difficult but fortunately it doesn't mean anything for other schools. Keep positive

We are assuming he hasn’t got through on the sports scholarship for Emanuel given no mention of that.

We got an email invite just before 6pm for the drama scholarship. Sorry to those who didn't get the reply they hoped. This is our first experience so I'm still "flapping" as my husband says. My DD has always said she wanted JAGS and we went for Emanuel as they did the 10+. No idea how the JAGs exam is different from Emanuel, any ideas? And fingers crossed for everyone!
