Hi all

It doesn’t look as though one of these threads has been set up yet so I thought I’d do it.

I have a daughter going into year 6 and a son going into year 8 next month - both will be moving to senior school in 2025.

According to the website there's a group session and a one to one interview.

I assume they must interview them as well? Or does Latymer just do a group session?

A friend's DD attended last year and she had a 5minute interview after the group session, they declined the offer as she didn't want to go there based on the interview day experience

Interesting. Did she have a bad experience of the group session? I think the schools that do the 5 minutes interview probably base most of their decision on the exam score.

Interview days can be useful to both sides to see what you think of the school. So much can depend on who is interviewing as well. Your child may click with the teacher or not!

Yes, for sure. It is a good way to get a feel for the school.

Sass22 · 11/12/2024 11:15

We got a yes for Latymer. Is there any idea of what the one2one interview will be like? Not sure what they could talk about in 5 minutes!

Bad experience in the individual interview, she got the feeling that the interviewer wasn't interested and actually said I don't want to come to this school! Not sure what is the experience of others in previous years, would welcome any feedback/experience

My DC had a longer interview a few years ago but suspect some of the stuff they was asked - discussions about a picture, a passage from a book etc- is probably covered in the group sessions now. Very smiley friendly teacher ( we had to wait while they were interviewed and they were collected from us and brought back). Also quite a bit about hobbies, life, what they were doing that afternoon etc.

A much friendlier and more positive experience than some of the All Boys schools nearby- ish. !

St. Pauls results are out, good news for us :)

tw9mum · 11/12/2024 16:51

DagaDiga · 11/12/2024 16:54

11+ for us

tw9mum · 11/12/2024 16:59

Thanks! Maybe the 13+ will be tomorrow..

DagaDiga · 11/12/2024 17:02

Yes, hopefully.. Good luck to you

tw9mum · 11/12/2024 17:06

Thanks! And very well done to your son :)

vjceqgub · 11/12/2024 18:17

@DagaDiga congratulations!

DreamyDreamy · 11/12/2024 19:26

Good news for DS for St Paul as well (11+) waiting to hear about the girls for DD! I was hoping both would be released on the same day.

CruCru · 11/12/2024 19:32

Ah, good news!

FHRP interview invitations have come earlier than expected (they said Friday). Any idea how many they are interviewing this year, and how many offers from that?

CruCru · 11/12/2024 22:20

No idea how many girls are being interviewed, Meowfoy, but I had a look at the GCSE results and 75 girls took GCSEs in 2024 - so I expect they take about that number each year (as they don’t have a prep school). Maybe they will over offer by a bit?

Dd had an interview at LU two years ago, it was very brief. She was interviewed by a sports teacher who was in charge of the sport my dd does outside of school so they talked about that and a few general things- I remember dd said it was very relaxed but felt a little more rushed than at g&l and SPGS (she got a LU offer but went to a different school)

Pigeon25 · 12/12/2024 09:55

Has anyone heard from CLSG yet? First round results are meant to come out today I think….

meuntilmarch2025 · 12/12/2024 11:18

We received CLSG results around 10:30 am today.

w8anxious · 12/12/2024 12:00

I just want to prop up everyone who is getting a "no" we were in the same boat last year and I was super nervous - first waiting for all interview invites and then for the offers. I was soooo upset that my DD did not get interviews/offers from certain schools. In the end we chose a school with which we just could not be happier and it suits her to a T and she is thriving in Year 7. So all happens for a reason.

Thanks, that is great to hear it worked out well. I believe everything happens for a reason too. Just can't wait to be done with it all....and know which school ds will attend. It is the unknown and the long wait that feels stressful! 😅

But, as I have read many times before, there is a place for everyone....so the dc will get a place. The most important thing is they get a place at a school that is right for them.
