Hi all

It doesn’t look as though one of these threads has been set up yet so I thought I’d do it.

I have a daughter going into year 6 and a son going into year 8 next month - both will be moving to senior school in 2025.

They emailed very late two years ago.

meuntilmarch2025 · 10/12/2024 15:03

LU results are out :)

11plus2nd · 10/12/2024 15:13

Well done!

LUS letters are out. My daughter is invited to the interviews. Good luck!

Wlondon14 · 10/12/2024 15:15

Are LU yes and no out? No email here ..

Kitkat189 · 10/12/2024 15:19

I guess the nos are taking longer. Sigh

user1489046314 · 10/12/2024 15:36

Thomas’s and Epsom are also coming through now.

@Kitkat189

Yes’s for LU still coming out! Keeping everything crossed for you 🤞

Dallasdays · 10/12/2024 16:09

Just got a yes from LU - nerve wracking wait!

Kitkat189 · 10/12/2024 16:12

Oh thanks for sharing, let’s see what happens… I keep telling myself we are ok with a no, it was always a VERY long shot for him anyways and we only added it last minute

Kitkat189 · 10/12/2024 16:13

And congrats everyone. Good luck!

Wlondon14 · 10/12/2024 16:59

We got an LU yes, keep waiting!

CruCru · 10/12/2024 17:00

Ah, good news! I will keep my fingers crossed for you, Kitkat189.

It was a no, just came through. That’s ok, if all happens for a reason

11plus2nd · 10/12/2024 17:40

I am sorry to hear, hopefully other options are good. We are still figuring out about alternative to gcse from LUS. Still much in doubt at the moment.

CruCru · 10/12/2024 17:46

I’m sorry to hear that.

OP posts:
Dallasdays · 10/12/2024 18:06

Sorry to hear that @Kitkat189. Best of luck with your other options.

Heidi245 · 10/12/2024 18:08

@Kitkat189

Sorry to hear. Rooting for you for the options.

mutbee · 10/12/2024 19:07

PHS is sadly a no for us. Was confident as DD thought she'd gotten to the harder questions in the exam, but clearly not!
We still have WHS 2nd round coming up which I think suits DD better. I wonder what numbers might be for both PHS and WHS...

The Thomas’s email is so pompous and up itself (for want of a better phrase). Long-winded waffle and endless wanging on about the character assessment as though it’s the final stage of an interview for MI6. They seem to have forgotten it’s a new school which many have applied to with reservations and concerns and they’ll do well to fill it in September. DD got through but there’s something about the tone of the process I don’t like.

We did not apply, but that would annoy me!

I got that feeling from them, we didn't apply. Many have applied hoping to get a founding scholarship place...we give free places but we invite you to pay over 100% of the fees😂

Does anyone have an idea about girls / boys breakdown for interview & offers in LU ?
My son is invited for an interview and I am wondering are they grouping the boys in itself ?
Also about the interview process did you check with the school how will it be ? Thank you Xx

I think the interview process has changed a bit since DC did it so not sure can offer any advice except for your son to be himself!
They definitely won't split out boys and girls in the grouping.
A few years ago the admissions lady told me they tend to interview more girls as, as a complete generalisation, girls tend to score higher in 11plus ( in all schools) and then offer more girls, but because there are less choices for boys at 11 they get more acceptances for boys so all ends up about 50/50 in the school. This is probably true of all the Co- Ed schools.

I got similar feedback when I asked at Emanuel, makes sense. It feels so hard to get a place in a co-ed school especially for boys...hopefully everything will work out. We got 2 interviews so far, hoping we get at least 1 more to improve the odds of getting an offer. 450 interviews for 128 places at Latymer is ridiculous, especially when they are split in large groups

I assume they must interview them as well? Or does Latymer just do a group session?
