First of all good luck to you and your DC’s.

Does anyone know when the emails came out last time for SPGS? I know this year it is on 09 February but no idea of the time. Would appreciate anyone’s input? Thank you

I only know about LU. The email came out on the Friday they broke up for half-term and we got an email mid-afternoon - just before school pick-up! I don't remember anything coming in the post.

Good luck everyone! The waiting is so tough.

Did you accept LU? If so do you like it?

CocoC · 29/01/2024 22:06

Do the emails come out at same time whether it is a yes or a no?
Or is it like our experience with Emanuel interview where all the ’yes’s were in the morning and the ‘no’s came at 5pm or something ?!

Waitlist1234 · 29/01/2024 22:29

@BrightEyesMum spgs was early in the morning but I remember some people actually found out a few days before as their open apply had been updated.. think it was only the people applying for bursary though and was mostly the nos. I think some parents called the school and they said it was a mistake, they removed the update but when the actual day arrived the people on mums et that had the updates were actually a no.. hopefully this won’t happen this year

I think that more or less as the same time as far as I can remember.
Both Emanuel and KGS post the day before too

Yes, we did. I have another child at the school too. My kids are both very happy. I really do like the school. I must admit that I wasn't keen on LU initially when I went on a tour with my eldest a few years ago. However, my DC was keen to apply (it was their favourite) and so we did make an application in the end. I'm so glad we did!

All these schools are great. I don't think you can go wrong really. When others say consider the daily journey, I think that is very solid advice.

Last year was 10th Feb early morning.

BrightEyesMum · 30/01/2024 16:24

@ItsMeHi48 and @Waitlist1234 thank you for getting back to me. Fingers cross!

BrightEyesMum · 30/01/2024 16:25

@PreplexJ thank you as well

hiitsquare · 30/01/2024 19:04

1 more week to go, I try not to think about it 🤣 gla!

11plu01 · 30/01/2024 19:52

@BrightEyesMum I wondered what your DD thought of the SPGS interview? DD’s interview was more of a chat with a few logical/open ended style questions which she enjoyed. It sounded very different to some who got maths and poem/literature. Can’t help but wonder weather it was a good or bad thing 😅

11plu01 · 30/01/2024 19:53

Typo….* whether

Wondermumof4 · 30/01/2024 20:06

I see everybody is so impatient ! I am as well , i am trying to not think too much about it so time goes faster 😬 DS has his last interview at Dulwich College this morning it is officially over and i am so happy about that ! Hope good news await next week finger crossed everyone🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🍀🍀🍀

BrightEyesMum · 30/01/2024 22:55

@11plu01 Our DD also had the same experience as well - it was just a general chat. I spoke to some other parents whose DDs had maths and comprehension questions. I don’t know which of these approaches is any sort of indication of what they think of the candidates. Can anyone else enlighten us? Also if there are 110 places how many offers do they make?

BonjourCrisette · 30/01/2024 23:08

I don't think you can necessarily read too much into it but DD (now in Y12 at SPGS) had what you both describe, a general chat and some logical/open-ended questions. And she had to look at a picture and talk about it (which she misidentified but that didn't seem to matter and she thought it was funny, anyway). She wasn't asked anything straightforwardly academic.

Ours is general chat last year, pretty short about 15-20mins. I think (no proof) they will make at least 140-150 offers + waiting list based on the interpolation information of the people we know that got offers and reject it in the end.

hannsmum · 30/01/2024 23:21

Anyone waiting on any of the GDST schools ? CHS/SHS or JAGS?

Thankfully my DD got a scholarship and full bursary offer at CHS. But that was our last choice . We didn't even go to the open day

I'm really anxious waiting for SHS ( Sydenham high) and JAGS as those are our top choices

SHS chased me to chase DDs school for references , I'm hoping that's a good sign ?😩😩

Sleepless nights 😩😩

farfallarocks · 31/01/2024 10:16

I would say that is a very good sign @hannsmum although odd the school have not already submitted references!

All our schools are reporting on the same say 9th Feb and the wait now is dragging on!

@Wondermumof4 hope Dulwich went well!

It really is, I know there is nothing to be done now and so pleased that DD has a much fuller curriculum at school again (and some fun trips!), this is my issues, I am an impatient control freak!!
