Trinity & Whitgift 10+/11+ exams 2024 entry

Hi everyone,

I'm starting a new thread for those with children who are sitting for the 10+ Trinity and Whitgift exams this year.

I've been lurking for years reading through the 10+ and 11+ past threads, silently sharing in the anxiety, pain and joy of those parents that have come before me 😅.

I can't believe that the time is now here for my DS to sit the 10+ exams.

Are there any other parents that would like to jump on board this thread so we can support each other through the next few months?

Well done to your DS @Balhamdad11 . Delighted to have an offer too.

Balhamdad11 · 09/02/2024 13:29

@londonlady2023 congrats to you too! Will you be taking the offer or have you got a difficult decision to make between W and other schools?

londonlady2023 · 09/02/2024 13:36

We feel lucky to have a few offers. We love Whitgift but are also have one other we love. We will reflect over half term. I see Whitgift don’t offer a chance to revisit the school. How about you @Balhamdad11?

Balhamdad11 · 09/02/2024 13:41

@londonlady2023 We are on the waiting list for Emanuel, and have a couple offers from back up schools. Emanuel is the only slight consideration for us. We all preferred Whitgift as a school, but Emanuel is far more convenient logistically. We will therefore see how the next couple weeks pan out and if we get offered a spot from Emanuel waitlist then we'll have a decision to make. If not (which is likely as seems crazy competitive there this year), then we'll definitely accept Whitgift. We were so impressed with it as a school.

Has anyone else not yet heard from W11+ ?

ModeWeasel · 09/02/2024 14:01

Congratulations to those with offers by the way!

Bogiemum · 09/02/2024 14:10

Not heard yet. Beginning to suspect we are at the end of the list for a reason :-(

Well done to all those boys with offers though, they have done so well!

Balhamdad11 · 09/02/2024 14:15

@Bogiemum @ModeWeasel don’t lose hope. Delay could be for a variety of reasons. Fingers crossed for you

BoysSons · 09/02/2024 14:29

Relieved to get an offer for W 10+ today, super proud of my DS for working so hard especially after a rejection from T 10+ last week. Well done to all the other boys who have been offered places and don’t give up hope to those who haven’t, you’ve still got next year to reapply 🙏🏼

Hellofresh22 · 09/02/2024 14:42

Still waiting too!

@Bogiemum so sorry to hear that. It’s a brutal process. Your son did amazingly well to get to interview and he will do well wherever he ends up as he’s clearly smart, got a good work ethic, and has very supportive parents (that much must be true to get as far as you did)

Hantsmum123 · 10/02/2024 08:41

Well done to everyone, even though we didn't recieve and offer from W am still super proud of my son for all his hard work and all the others boys who have put so much eforrt into thw process. Can I ask if anyone on here has recieved a scholarship form T?

NKM7 · 10/02/2024 10:15

Congratulations to everyone who got an offer yesterday.

Sadly our son was waitlisted for both Trinity and Whitgift 11+. He is disappointed. Does anyone know if you can call and see where you are on the waitlist? We got a spot at Royal Russell but it was not his first choice and wondering if we need to accept there. I have no idea how many children they add to waitlists. . . If there are 50+ kids on a waitlist if there is point holding out. Will keep fingers crossed until the 1st March just the same.

Hellofresh22 · 10/02/2024 11:55

We are also on the waiting list for W so would also like to know this

I'm absolutely sure they will provide you with the waiting list number if you give them a call, it's a perfectly reasonable request as family's do need to plan. I'm surprised they don't notify in the original comms to be honest.

Balhamdad11 · 10/02/2024 12:19

I know of two boys in my DS class who have an offer from W and probably won’t take it… I’m sure there will be plenty of movement. Definitely get in touch with the school and see if they can give you an indication

NotInYourForrest · 10/02/2024 14:30

Our DS has a W place he's not going to accept so that plus the 2 below means at least 3 WL spots. Fingers crossed for you.

swlondon24 · 10/02/2024 14:33

This isn't how waiting lists work though... schools overoffer bc they know not everyone accepts. so 3 people declining does not mean 3 waiting list offers. Only when more decline their place than planned the school goes to waiting list. It usually does happen but not as soon as the first people decline. It's usually closer to the deadline that schools know if they can offer more places.

Whitgift will put out around 120 offers of which they will try to fill 60 places. The wait list only comes into play if they cant fill 60 places from the 120 offers.

HenriB · 10/02/2024 14:46

Is anyone who was offered both T10+ and W10+ not accepting T10+?

Hellofresh22 · 10/02/2024 19:44

Thank you everyone. This is all great to know

Hi, wonder if there are more then 60 accept the offer, say give 120 but finally 90 will accept the offer, then school will open one more class? Or enlarge the size of class? Thanks

tennissquare · 11/02/2024 19:53

@flashinhk , they will put on an extra class, this happened to Surbiton high 2 years ago, they used their normal offer ratio but more people accepted by the deadline so they put more than 1 extra class.
