Camden School for Girls - HELP!

SameBoat2022 · 10/07/2023 17:51

HI, we just got a place at Camden School for Girls in Y7. We have chosen Queen's, which we love, but of course the offer is good. Any insight on CSG?

Thanks

I hope your daughter has a lovely time.

I agree what may seem like cliques could just be friendship groups. A lot of girls one en masse from local primary schools: Hawley, KT, Brecknock and Torriano.

Are you only interested in single sec education? Beacon High is mixed but very near and could probably do with much more fighting to keep the school afloat than CSG. Would that interest you? That would be keeping it really real.

My daughter is lovely and I’d be incredibly upset to think she was being used as a social experiment to make rich parents feel better. There’s a bit of Pulp, Common People vibe about your post. But maybe English isn’t your first language and I lost something in translation.

@CSGCSG "There’s a bit of Pulp, Common People vibe about your post"

I do agree with this. Fighting to keep the school afloat made me laugh a little.

I worked at Brecknock some moons ago, and we always sent tons of girls to CSG, very few were the wealthy ones. Those tend to come from the preps and primaries further north.

"prospect of being part of a community of people fighting to keep the school afloat"

I wonder what can the community of people do about it?

“Rich” parents like me can do what rich parents do: pay. In this case, towards the different school crowdfunding and to support the trust, rather than giving it to a private school, and of course via paying taxes. Income redistribution. I do not come from money and I do not belong to the usual private schools’ crowd, but I have always done community work.

How does this help on the specific school your DD is attending though?
