These are the voyages of the GCSE Enterprise. To support our DCs, bemoan exam boards and to boldly go through the last fortnight like no one has gone before!

Product design this morning, that's it.
Look forward to doing this all again in a couple of years with DC2!

bluegiraffe · 19/06/2023 08:38

Last one for DD today! AQA Design &Tech. Revision done under some duressat the weekend amidst drama school, Father’s Day celebration and lack of sleep from party Friday night with friends who finished already!
Going in bit blind to what she needs for the written paper as has not been given her NEA submitted score .. 🧐 so fingers crossed!

Get to 11 am and Summer here we come!

christmastreefarm · 19/06/2023 08:48

My daughter has 2 hours in today for a food tech double revision lesson then back home until exam tomorrow. Then she's done.

Very little revision done over weekend for it - a concert Saturday and her sisters birthday. I think she's mentally done.

3sthemagicnumber · 19/06/2023 09:54

Hope all those who have finished enjoyed their Monday morning lie-ins!

DD still has further maths on Wednesday, but thinks she's getting a UTI. (She had a really awful one a few years ago that had her laid up for 10 days and GP wanted to admit her to hospital - I suspect that wouldn't be the case in the 2023 version of the NHS though.) Hoping for a quick response from GP!

DownTheRabbitHoIe · 19/06/2023 11:10

And we're done 🎉🎉🎉

Good luck to everyone with exams still to take.

See you on the other side

minisnowballs · 19/06/2023 13:30

I've just spent an energetic morning trying to gee up DD for her Latin culture paper. We now know a lot more about freedmen. Though if she remembers the words hypocaust and manumission it will be a miracle. Not convinced the teacher did ANYTHING on this area of the curriculum - or if they did DD was not listening. Ho hum. With luck her ability to bullshit will get her through.

closethedrawer · 19/06/2023 13:34

We're having issues with food prep revision, not least because he 'can't be arsed' and he 'doesn't care what grade he gets'.

Teachers have come and gone over the last 2 years, so no consistent teaching. So much so that the school no longer offers food tech as a GCSE option.

TripleDaisySummer · 19/06/2023 14:37

DD2 actually factored in likelihood of teachers sticking around into her three option choices - which I thought sad but couldn't argue against just express caution about.

DS done little revision over weekend or today - I was reluctant to push to much as DD1 was in state about today's last exam and I was worried about setting her off.

spiderlight · 19/06/2023 15:44

DS's morning lie-in lasted until 3.15 this afternoon!

SilverGlitterBaubles · 19/06/2023 18:21

Very little revision today, so hard when all your friends have finished. It's in the lap of the gods now I can't push anymore.

lemonyellows · 19/06/2023 18:31

My DS has finished but quite a few of his mates have food prep tomorrow so he's bored. Already 😂

naughty40me · 19/06/2023 18:36

My DS is surgically attached to his xbox for the foreseeable...🤦🏻‍♀️

Changes17 · 19/06/2023 18:41

There’s been lots of gaming/playing tennis interspersed with a trip to school for an extra further maths lesson here. While quite a lot rested on a good maths grade, there’s no requirement for any particular further maths grade…

BonjourCrisette · 19/06/2023 19:25

DD reported Russian went OK today. She is so happy to be done with it.

Just one more to go, on Friday. Anyone else's DC doing Add Maths then?

NCTDN · 19/06/2023 19:36

Has anyone else done Statistics today? DS said it was ok but tough.

CCL333 · 19/06/2023 20:55

DS did statistics today and said it went well. One more to go which is further maths on Friday afternoon, then we can all relax.
I’m sure us mums have been more stressed out than the children.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 19/06/2023 21:08

Did anyone else’s dc sit the WJEC higher level Physics paper this afternoon that had the wrong translation into Welsh in one of the question.

Ds thought it didn’t make sense so asked for the paper in English which confirmed the mistake which he showed to one of the invigilators. He says that he was a bit put off by it.

What happens in cases like this?

DS has further maths on Wednesday afternoon?

A wrong translation is awful!

Contact the exams officer and check that they have reported it to the exam board.

CCL333 · 19/06/2023 21:35

@NCTDN I know another exam board has further maths on Wednesday. I double checked the date for DS exam when other people mentioned theirs was Wednesday. OCR is Friday.

NCTDN · 19/06/2023 21:35

How strange!

MoFoFlo · 19/06/2023 22:02

Anyone else’s DC doing AQA Dance tomorrow? DD doesn’t know her marks from her NEA yet, but thinks she should have done quite well, so working hard to make sure she remembers everything for the written exam.

Quite a few of her friends have further maths on Wednesday, so hopefully they’ll make plans to get together on Wednesday afternoon.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 19/06/2023 22:06

I’ve emailed the exams officer, I think that’s probably all that I can do.

Has anyone else done Statistics today? DS said it was ok but tough.

Both DS and his friend thought statistics yesterday was a tough paper, harder than paper 1.

MrsHamlet · 20/06/2023 07:12

It is. The boards can't take feedback from individuals but will from centres.
